She liked the duty, but was not impressed with the Command. Training is constant in all types of weather conditions. Winter training was tough....living in a tent for a couple of weeks with sporadic heat....LOL! It has given her a chance to see the World....Spain, Beliz, Honduras, Guatamala, Singapore, Bahrain, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. She has crossed the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in 3 1/2 years time....beats being stuck in one place!

Expeditionary Combat School was in Mississippi. She then headed to Portsmouth, Va. to join the team. From there, she was sent to Groton, Conn. for SRFA (Security Reactionary Force Advanced) for more training. This involved hostage/target recovery. After the merger, she was supposed to go to Lejuene for boat training with the Marines, but ended up being assigned to an F-18 Squadron and is currently serving on the Carl Vinson in the Persian Gulf....

Thanks, guys. My son just started classes yesterday. We'll see how it goes. Tom, did Caity like the duty? Where'd she go for it?

David...I just talked to my daughter and asked her. She was in Rivron 2. She chose her orders right out of A School for Expeditionary. There is a lot of advanced training involved, but there was no waiting period. She is not aware of any changes at this time....

John may be correct....Caity was in MSRON previous to the merger, so things may have changed since!

My daughter was MSRON....Expeditionary Combat School after A School. Now that MSRON/Riverines have merged, he will need to attend Riverine training as well. It is a tough road, but interesting duty!

Thanks, Tom. Anyone have a sailor in RIVRON? From the dad's perspective, it seems, how shall I say, scary? Very front line. There must be extra training for it. Any info on that?

Yes it is...He would have to get Expeditionary orders. It is now called RIVRON....
