MCPON (AW/NAC) Mike D. Stevens

The Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy

(MCPON, pronounced "mic-pon") is a unique non-commissioned rank in the United States Navy. The holder of this rank and post is the most senior enlisted member of the U.S. Navy. He is appointed by the Chief of Naval Operations to serve as a spokesman to address the issues of enlisted personnel to the highest positions in the Navy. As such, he is the senior enlisted advisor to the Chief of Naval Operations as well as the Chief of Naval Personnel. His exact duties vary, depending on the CNO, though he generally devotes much of his time traveling throughout the Navy observing training and talking to sailors and their families. In 1988, the MCPON's spouse was made the Ombudsman at Large, authorizing her to travel around the fleet with her husband, representing the interests of the spouses of enlisted members.

Thanks Mary. He was told that if he deferred his entry bonus until his first two years were up it would be significantly larger than taking it when he entered. He is approaching that two year mark and I was wondering if he had any paperwork to fill out or he would just receive it on his anniversary date or what. That no issue thing makes me feel better. I don't suppose it is tax free?

Dick,
It depends on how the agreement is written. For our son, it required him to successfully complete his A and C school program and report to his first command. When he checked into his ship, he received that bonus within a month with no issues.

when a recruiter gets a recruit to defer entry bonus does the sailor receive it automatically at the two year point in their enlistment and how does it come

Dear Friends please read and pass a long to everyone you know, your help is greatly needed.

I am working very hard to bring full honro to all EODMU Fallen Heroes and I could use everyone help even ie you don't like me do it for our heroes not for me.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We want to get the word out about the Remembering The Brave Organization which honors all fallen heroes. They have a ceremony every year to honor our fallen and their familie by presenting them with hero's metals. Then in April or May in Colorado and in May at Quantico, VA to help raise money by having a shooting match to raise money to cover the cost of the unuforms and metals for the fallen to be honroed at the ceremonies. Also moneys are are also raised to help Gold Star Family and our Wounded Warriors, This a none profit foundation, if you check out their website you will learn more. As for my statement about me is that I have not had any luck in getting the guys that served with Adam to get invovled and now I have had a Trophy made in Adam's honor and the trophy will be forever to honor all fallen EOD heros. I would really like to see them step up and be the there to tell stories of these fallen heroes as well as to try to win the trophy for their units. No one that serve with Adam show up to share in this very special event and It breaks my heart. So if you know any military personnel please share this story and ask them to spread the word of this great organization. Thank you ever so very much for your help. The website is Remembering The Brave Organization. Please forward this letter to everyone you know. Thank you ever so very much, my love, hugs and prayers to you and your family,
Florence McSween Navy Gold Star Mom og EOD1 Joseph "Adam" McSween KIA 04~06~2007
