Navy Dads

Hello to all. Navigating site and glad to see a MO Dads group. We will need to add new members! My son Sean is at Great Lakes with a PIR date of 11/13/09, then on to Pensacola for A school. He is slotted for AWS (rescue swimmer) training. Graduated from CBC in '05, University of Dayton '09.

Hey, Kevin. Welcome to MO NavyDads! My son Ryan is in Great Lakes with a PIR date of 10/9. He is to go on to Goose Creek (outside Charleston, SC) for A school. He graduated high school in 2007, went to college for a year, worked a year, and then decided upon the Navy. I couldn't be prouder! Ryan has lived out on his own since graduating high school. I think that has really helped him get a leg up on Intensive Training (Basics). Ryan LOVES it. Although we hear from him very little, he says he has not regretted joining one bit. He is headed into the nuke field. From what I and my wife have read on NavyDads.com and NavyforMoms.com there are very few that enter the nuke field--or at least no one's mentioning that fact.
You'll find lots of good reading on here. Someone on this site always has an answer to almost any question.
Good luck,
Richard in Springfield

Hello MO Dads, my son has been in a little over a year. He is currently deployed on the Destroyer USS Roosevelt. They are part of the George H Bush Carrier strike group currently on station in the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility. I just spoke to my son by phone this morning, he is currently in Bahrain enjoying a port visit. His deployment is scheduled for 9 months, bringing him back home in September sometime.

I too could not be more proud of my son.
