Navy Dads

As most of you know there is a U.S. Navy SEAL in Space aboard the ISS. SEAL stands for SEa, Air and Land. We know about the Sea and the Land part of the SEAL community, so let’s talk about the Air part. Those of you that are members or followers of NavySEALs.com may be reading the accounts of the trip from dive doc, who is at the Cape for the launch. I am going to cut and paste some of his comments here and also some of the pictures he posted on that site.

Cmdr. Chris Cassidy of York, Maine, is the second SEAL to launch into space (Capt. William Shepherd) in 1992. CDR Chris Cassidy is the 500th person to reach space with the shuttle launch and a mission specialist. He is an integral part of the STS-127 crew that will work on upgrading the International Space Station (ISS). According to dive doc, they had a large Trident Flag on site! CDR Cassidy will be wearing his Trident on his orange ACES suit for walkout, launch and landing. They diligently kept the big Trident flag out for each of Chris's walkouts. He saw it each time and talked to the crew about it! I know yesterday that some of the photographers were asking him if the flag was his and where it kept appearing from! LOL!!! Little bit of news though ... “The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday now exists in Space” ... Chris is currently coordinating the EVA wearing his frogman shirt!!!

Here are some of the pictures dive doc has posted, and I though you might enjoy seeing them.

CDR Chris Cassidy, notice the Trident on his jacket.
