Son ships out with SO contract for GL today. Looks like he will be in 812 when he gets there (if I'm projecting the BC classes correctly).
Can not believe how proud, scared, and OLD I feel this morning.
Any others Dads/Moms with future sailors shipping this week?

Guys, don't know if you have seen the video of the O-Course they will run in Coronado or not. Here is a link to the O-Course video, hope you enjoy.
I will not try this.
We received a form letter from the Navy today. Our son is also on Ship 4, Div 812, with an RTC graduation date of May 11. So I guess it's official. Looking forward to our weekend near Chi-town. And you're right: it will be a wild ride for everyone involved ;)
I you plan to drive on the base (and we recommend you take a shuttle) you'll need the password on that form letter to download the parking pass.

PapaUrsa - my son left for Great Lakes on the 22nd as well. Since all this is new to me, what does that mean you think he'll be in 812? From other posts it looks like this is a division, but how do you know?
My son shipped on the 22nd, SWCC contract, Ship 4 Div 812.. Good luck to them all.

I should not rely on my memory, he is Ship 4 Div 813. and it was the 21st.
Got my form letter yesterday, on Saturday - PIR for 812 is on May 11. Canceled the speaking appointment - they can find someone else, but no one can be my kid's dad like I can.... Can't wait to see him again and he's only been gone 4 days... LOL
My Grandson is in this group, ship 4,div 812. I cannot express how proud this has made me. I'm from the old school, when Diego was Camp Nimitz. Not sure how close this is to the old base but is sure brings me back to the good old days. And yes in 1965 Viet Nam was big time going on! Served your country, obeyed your orders and was spit on when I get home. I don't remember how many hippie butts I had to straighten out on the meaning of being an Proud American. Now my grandson is going the same path, as for as the Navy is concerned and I'm so proud of him. I think he stays in GL for his A school in Buds, then heads to Diego for the rest of his Buds and SQT. He wants to go Medical after that, so we will from there. I can't go to GL for his PIR, but health permitting, wild horses will not keep me from SQT.
