Navy Dads

Greetings Friends,

Any suggestions or insight/input would be greatly appreciated. My son married a frog hog on Nov 12th 2011 because she was pregnant(so we think). She has since terminated the pregnancy, but now he is in a marriage he wants/needs to get out of. In checking Nevada law and speaking with the Nevada courts, he has several grounds for annulment however, I don't know if there will be any military issues here.

My son is literally weeks away from graduation and all this girl wants to do is ruin him now. It has been a very volatile relationship from day 1 and she has called police before only to get herself in trouble for filing false reports. 20+ years we've been through and shared everything as father and son and in a few months she got him and pulled him away from the family. Of course I am angry at him as well for allowing this to happen. He has endured and persevered through the most elite military training in the world, but the head games of this girl seem to be much more damaging. I have him staying away from her as she says she has another bf etc to get my son all worked up. Granted he's a man and will have to deal with his decisions, but I can't get an annulment soon enough,. I was wondering if anyone had or heard of any such experiences.

He is in jump school and weeks away from his trident. He does not have time to do much so I'm handling what I can to get this rolling. He got sucked in by a frog hog who wants a free meal ticket and he needs to get out. Please help or send me a private message if you have any insight. Thanks for listening!

Sounds like a worst nightmare. It would seem like there should be some resource (quasi military) that is knowledgeable about this type of scenario. If the girl was over 18, it would be difficult to know what military issues might come up.  From what I've read, divorce/annullment seems to be somewhat common with the SW guys.

It would be great if you could post an update - No matter how proud we are of our sailors, we also know that they may have a hard time keeping their pants zipped (or buttoned).

I'll ask my lawyers if they know any ex JAGs.

Certainly the worst nightmare imaginable...We have this huge tight knit family where he has dozens of aunts, uncles and cousins and we find this crap out on Facebook. He is 23 and she is 26. She's been married, divorced from a marine, no job etc etc...My boy gotta be the one to get caught up.

He's with his Navy SW buds now and she is pinching him for the marital allowance now or she will go to his command..Which he does not need!!

This girl is the plague of Coronado and just wants a paycheck...I am researching lawyers now or trying to see if there are any onbudsman(?) that he can talk to. There has to be some reachable legal help for these boys. I'm glad everything worked out ok for you PT.

It could be a lot worse.  --At least there isn't a child involved.  I recall a situation in Saint Thomas, USVI, where a Coast Guardsman got into a situation with an island girl.  As soon as his CO found out about it he was transferred within hours--no forwarding information available.  My guess is the Navy has a long history dealing with "Frog Hogs".  Although I've never personally heard that phrase before. While she is using the threat of going to the Navy, I would think they might be a great resource in such matters.  At this point in his training , they have one hell of a lot more invested in your son than she does.

Point well taken RJ...He's kinda stuck in telling his commander or trying to just get through it. I told him he has to mention it and that it wasnt what he thought and he wanted out and nothing to do with her. This way he may null and void any report she may have that follows his. It will be total devastation if he falls short a few weeks after what he just endured after 2yrs of training. Hope I didnt burn out all my prayers!!

Did his command know he was going to Vegas to get married?  Vegas is about 25 miles outside of the distance they are allowed to travel without taking a leave.  If they were aware, he should tell the jump school chief.  This school is outside of sqt and he might have a better chance of getting help w/o all the brass finding out.

Yes, I certainly see the point Ken and I will inquire. I dont think he was too proud and let anyone know, so I'm guessing they didn't know. Is it better they know? Think I'll get a NV lawyer in on it today...can't play around at this stage man, i'm way overdue to flip out here but i'm trying the "cooler heads prevail" approach.

Military lawyer yesterday was telling me that her cut would be 1/3 his gross pay each pay check. He said he didn't have to pay unless his command advised him to pay, but it will give her less to cry about and cause problems.

Stay tuned!

Does anyone have names of any good military lawyers in the San Diego to recommend for my son's annulment/divorce ?

I left a few lawyer messages last night but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know if there is someone the boys in NSW can reach out to for legal matters?

p.s. All my thoughts and prayers to all the families and victims of the recent tragedies in the community. My son was originaly classed and remained close to the brave young man who had the accident. Please keep the prayers going!! They need them.
