I love collecting coins. However, the ones that I treasure the most are the ones I have earned. Anyone can buy a coin but I keep my coins earned by deed separate. My son has received two coins by deed since he joined. I never got one when I was in the Navy but I have been fortunate enough to have a job that has allowed me to continue serving my country and the war-fighter. Here is my latest coin:

Yes, it is definitely and great career to follow up with after serving. I am also somewhat in the IT field, so I am fully aware of how much experience will matter when it comes to pursuing a job in that field. My son's name is Andrew Tucker.

Bob T, the old military saying definitely applies to A school: hurry up and wait! My son was there for almost 2 weeks before he classed up. But it will come. The IT rating is an excellent one. Whether they only do their 4 year stint or longer, it will be invaluable training and experience for the future. What is your son's name? Mine is John Black. I will tell him about your son and maybe they will meet.

Bill, Thanks for that insight on the whole pollywog to shellback transition. I only hope someone sends me a video like that of my son! LOL.

My son arrived at Pensacola on 9/15 for IT. He is still waiting to class up. We sent him down a few boxes of stuff that should be there tomorrow. He said is cleaning buildings right now for the officers. We may drive his car down from NY for Thanksgiving weekend and then fly back home.
