Not a military book, but on my Navy son's recommendation I recently read the fiction novel "Flowers for Algernon". Was very good. Originally published as a short story, but I recommend the novel version.

I recently listened to "Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors" while vacationing out west. Very good. Navy son recommended it. Also, "It Worked for Me" by Colin Powell was very good. Even my 17 yr old son liked it.

been pretty busy so no recent updates-----A Warrior's Faith was a great book.....a journey of faith and renewal....it is worth reading particularly if you question the world and your personal faith.  Got pretty sidetracked and really have not read much dealing with the Navy....Becoming Jobs was very interesting--perhaps a little more jaded than Jobs was. 

Most interesting book was The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer.  Intense and not light reading....I have a degree in Biochemistry and I had to re-read parts for it to sink in.....still it is an amazing voyage into the disease and treatment.  Might want to check PBS as it was made into a 3-DVD series and that might be easier to follow.

Found an interesting book at Costco the other day:

Unbroken is a great book with an amazing story....you really learn the meaning of "never give up".....

Paul, I got delayed on it and have now picked it back up. I am a little over 2/3 of the way through it. It is really good. Should finish it tonight or tomorrow. Next up on the hit parade is Unbroken. A friend just gave that to me for my birthday. He read it and said it covers much more than the movie. Looking forward to that one as well.

Just started the book "Brothers Forever". It is going to be great!

I am looking forward to seeing American Sniper. I may even get my wife to go with me after the reviews and the unusual demographics of the attendees (i.e. many women and seniors). I also want to see it to pay tribute to Chris Kyle, a great American hero and as a symbolic gesture of shoving it up Michael Moore's.......!

American Prometheus has turned out to be pretty darned interesting....talk about "Red Fear" of the early 50's....Lewis Strauss certainly was a bastard in the way he orchestrated Oppenheimer's "trial" and downfall.....
