Hello Ox.  Welcome to the site.  There's not a lot of activity from other dads on here but I hope that more will catch on to using it.

Congrats to you and your son on his upcoming PIR.  I'm guessing that you're going up to Great Lakes for the event.  It will be an amazing experience for you and for him.

My daughter also went to Pensacola for her A school.  She's an AE with squadron VAW 126 and is coming up on her second anniversary in the Navy.  She's already been deployed to the Gulf and returned safely.  She's currently in Norfolk and still loves it.

I'm in Middlesboro...on the "opposite" end of the state from you... we're a small town in southeastern KY right next to the Cumberland Gap.

If we can offer any tips on the PIR, feel free to ask.  Hope to hear from you again on here.

Good morning to all. Our Son's PIR is next Friday, May 20. He will be headed for A school in Pensacola. I joined Navy Dads about 7 weeks ago, but just now saw this Navy Dads of Kentucky...We live in Henderson, just north of Hopkinsville. This will be a good site to hang out. Best wishes to all you folks.

Hi Randall,  Good to have another member.  I'm in Middlesboro (Bell Co).  I have some friends in your area.  I have a son that lives in Richmond...graduated from Eastern and another son at UK Pharmacy school that graduated from Centre.  We like to play golf and we visited Peninsula some whenhe was in Danville.

My daughter is currently deployed on the USS Harry S Truman.  Wow, it seems like forever since my daughter was at Great Lakes but it's actually on been 14 months.  She spent a few months in Pensacola after her PIR and then was on to Norfolk and the Truman.  She's an AE with squadron VAW-126 The Fighting Seahawks and loves it.  She's been deployed for awhile now and we're really looking forward to seeing her again.

I'll be thinking about you during this boot camp "isolation" time.  It's tough but the time will pass quickly. Hang in there!

Haven't been on the site in awhile, but when I saw this group I just had to join! Although I live in North Carolina, I grew up in Lexington and my sailor was born there....hope you don't mind having a transplanted Kentuckian join!

HI Bob:

Welcome. My son has been in for 16 years. He joined out of high school.
We live in Villa Hills across the river from Cincinnati. He now lives in Pensacola. He returned to San Diego today from a 6 month deployment on the USS Ronald Reagan. His next duty station is back home in Pensacola.

Hello fellow KY Navy Dads. My daughter just graduated boot camp last Friday and is now at A school in Pensacola. I'm in Middlesboro (Bell Co) in southeastern KY. Just wanted to offer my best wishes to you as proud Navy parents.

Kevin:

My son has been in the Navy for almost 16 years. I see more of his wife and my grand daughter then I do of him. But we E-Mail and he is returning to Pearl Harbor on Tuesday from a 6 month deployment.
