Fishdad, I AM sooo very PROUD of her!  She has moved up through the ranks so very fast and has done some amazing things. And it's not like we didn't think she could do it, we knew she could.  But you never imagine your child in these situations. She was in the Middle East for 2 years, it just astonishes us! Next she went to Japan, we were alittle worried about China and Russia, Korea......never expected a disaster.  We went to see her over the Holiday, and the Japaneese touched our lives and heart.  we grieve for them, but have no doubt they will survive and re-build. and the thought of our daughter being a part of that leaves us speachless, but very Proud. We thank you for everything you are doing to support the 7th fleet. I will send you a e-mail again Thank You from the bottom of our hearts!

Blondie,

We are putting together some packages for members of the 7th Fleet to help out with this. We have a lot of people on board that would like to contribute. If you would like to get in touch with me we will see to it that your daughter (and anyone else on her ship that you could recommend) will receive a care package with personal hygiene iems and some non-perishable food items as well. We run a Military Ministry and would consider it an honor to support your daughter and her shipmates. You can reach me at armorofgodmilitaryministry@gmail.com

You must be so very proud of her!

Time for me to brag, brag, brag! we had wonderful weather and got alot done this weekend in yard and flower beds (had to it started raining again last night and will turn to snow wed.) The moon was beautiful! finally got my BP under control, not great but controlling it! lots of posative thoughts and prayers going out everyday at 9 (as all my family (and it is BIG) are praying and have spread the word, 2 Churches and FB have been notifired. I finally had to learn to do mass texting LOL

Best news ever.....My sailor called!! we had a good chat. She started out I'm fine, they moved us again to a more secure position. Send, food, soap, deoderatnt! we are out of everything and the base (which we cannot go to) is bare also. everythig being ship to Japanesse, which it should be. but we missed mail in Singapore, no time to load it we were loading supplies all night and headed home in a hurry! I'm almost out of Oatmeal! (this was said with dread and exasperation.) I hate to ask, ask, ask but we are out of everything! (another mass text went out). then she said now for the good news......I've changed jobs, even though I cannot comfort the people myself....I'm helping direct the humanitarian relief! she said this with so much PRIDE and she was crying. Her O-4 and one other O-4 was assigned the duties and was told take who and what you need. (my daughter is assigned to the 7th fleet command and control unit, she works for the Admiral) her O-4 said just give me XXXXX, we'll get it done Sir. So the other O-4 asked for XXXXX (one of my daughter's best friends) and said, we all work good together, it'll be no problem. So the 4 of them are directing all the 7th fleets relief efferts! She said, Mom, I feel like I'm making a difference again! It's not the same as directing troops but this is where they think I'm most needed and It Feels GOOD! and I quess I'm still directing troops just for the good instead of for war. I'm tired to the bone mom but I'm HAPPY!

You can also pack them in miniature marshmallows. Keeps them soft and fresh and keeps them from breaking!

once again I agree with all of you. and Crystal your place of work should provide you with a cell or walkie-talkie for safety resasons.  I'm just saying it's our choice and if we choos to break the rules we should take the punishment. You can't play favorites and say well her son is in the military, how many more are? could become a serious safety problem or my kid got hurt at school, had a car accident. is one more important then the other? they are all our kids. believe me in case of emerency the military  will find you! by all means go to your boss and let them know what's going on and try to work something out before hand, or at least let them know I'm taking the call.  But breaking the rule, knowingly and then complaining about the rule after being punished does not make sense. and teaches our children nothing.  also if we are passing out pardons ALL military families sould get them!  it's a tuff situation but our children choose to enlist they were not forced that should not be our employers or fellow employees problem.

As a single parent who has raised my sons and having been attached to the DOD for many years, I have made it clear that my boys come first and I am on watch 24/7 and have been since they were born. Esp since my ex is a and has been a lost soul for entire life.  Even when they go off on their own you are never are off duty-You are only on perm liberty.  I have seen it more times than one that the brass would do the same but are very discrete of their actions; yet they have wives to attend to home front. Bottom line a job is a job but your kids are your life and one of the primary reason why you were placed on this earth for and too if you have faith your intagerity will be re awarded for actions. Furthermore, one will never regret their decision and due such belief is why I have not made it to the top of the corporate ladder. Like they say bring it to your HR Dept and if not elevate it and make it a public issue...As they say changes can occur if there are numbers. I can say Ms. Crystal is a very wise Woman and she is on target!!!

It is against the policy where I work too. But I always have it on with it set to vibrate. I am my sons only ER contact. His Father is dead. As a Nursing supervisior I am all over the building. I feel safer with it on in case I get hurt. I have a life line as does my son at the same time. I could fall down the steps and be in a stair well for hours. No one would find me. It is part of the job to check all stairwells. and areas after normal hours. Mothers and spouses will lose their jobs but they will face themselves in the mirror each day and know they kept the promise.
