Hi Navy moms, and thanks for being there. My son is in the corpsman school, and does not have access to internet on his ship,so I dont hear often enough from him,and if I call him from Iceland on his cell,he says it costs him an arm and a leg to answer,so as not to let it cost, for him,I have only talked to him on skype, when we have connected those few and far between times,he is online. It also makes it more difficult to connect beacuse of the time difference. Is this normal to have someone call from overseas that he gets charged ? Just if anyone would know about this ? Id be thankful.

Greetings Finna

MaMa just had to make her bed for her, that way she feels like I'm tucking her in at night.

I only got 9 out of 600 pictures to copy!  we've had 8 people work on the disc, used 6 different computors and spent over 40 hours on trying, giving up gonna ask sailor/daughter to try to burn to another 2 discs and mail them.  they did delete some off our camera before we left but when i put them in the DVD player is plays the first half and then stops in the middle of a picture. here's the few I got.

Getting tired of waiting on pictures and am caught up at work (YEAH!) so decided to post more of my time in Japan.

Did I mention Karaoke night at the bar named Budweiser? It’s in the Honch, ask your sailor’s about it. We had a blast! I was drinking long island ice teas and hubby was drinking double shots of JD on the rocks, all drinks are $5.00 so we all threw in $50.00 and used the pot to pay for drinks, pretzels and songs. There was always a drink in front of me, late in the evening one of the girls came over and asked what I was drinking she’d buy me one, I told her and she said, Oh Lord! We thought you were drinking soda! I said I know right? I quit counting at 6. My daughter over heard me say this and posted it on FB. However she didn’t post the rest of the conversation: Bobbi Jo said Oh honey you’re doing fine, which I replied, yes, but I get sick on the trains and I didn’t bring my wrist patches, not knowing we were drinking. My daughter pipes in, if you throw up on the train I’ll take pictures! It wasn’t a threat she was excited! Everyone is rolling laughing and she said what? I didn’t say I wanted her to throw up just that I’d take pictures if she did! Gotta love that girl. Bobbi Jo did buy me one more drink, I’d lost count so what was one more? Pretty soon my daughter is yelling out people’s names and ushering them outside and getting them cabs to the ship, as higher ranking she was responsible to get them back on time and the shore patrol had been in a couple of times, so she knew she was had. Everyone was gone and she looked at us and said last train in 15 mins. Can we make it? Yeah, we hassled and made it and I did not get sick! On the walk home they rewarded me with McDonald’s. Oh by the way the “Bud” is the bar that served the Hebu soka, the one with the snake in it, I have a picture I think. We had a blast! It was my daughter’s last day of work for 2-days, except that changed when she got called in on her day off for a special-ops meeting.

We ended up going to Kamakura two days, because so much to see, then on to Hase, to the Temple of Kotokuin’s the Great Buddha. Ate at Pepper-lunch. You buy tickets and then waitress brings your meal, you cook it at the table on this cast iron plate, we ate at the Beef-bowl once too, it was similar. The 29th we stayed home and did laundry and such, shopped at neighborhood malls and roadside shops. Our daughter worked this day. Then 30th went to Mt. Fuji, we left at 8 am but had to ride the trains…forever! So it was lunch time, we snacked mostly. Then went to Lake Kawaguchiko and climbed Mt. Tenjo, it’s only about 1/3 the size of Fuji, but was enough, there was snow in the mountains and my daughter was ecstatic! That night on the ride back it started snowing and my daughter was in Heaven, she hadn’t seen snow since Jan. of 2008.

For New Years Eve, we shopped and took in all their customs, celebrations etc…really fasenating.(Tokyo) The cleansing before entering the temple etc……we met up with a bunch of Debbie’s team and the new girl and went to all you can eat and drink place. They bring you little grills to the table and you just order whatever you want to grill our first Chu Highs! I think that I spelled that right. When I get my picture, I took a picture of a street side stand where we went later that night! We went home around midnight, the trains ran all night that night. We made cupcakes for the “watch floor” and took a 2 hour nap, and then daughter took cupcakes to ship while we showered and packed, left by 6:30 for Kyoto.
Visited the Imperial Palace, and Nijo-jo Castle couldn’t enter either because of the holiday (poor planning but it’s all we had!) It rained, we were soaked! LOL stayed at a Hostel, Loved it, got a whole 6 hours this night, up and gone by 7 for Hiroshima, we walked the Peace Memorial all day and still did not see everything. But had a 6 hour bullet train ride and then two local train rides to get home, arrived home after 10. went to mail and bought food, cheese, wine……chatted till 1 with daughter, up again and went shopping for last items, packed boxes for her to send home, post office (even on base) did not open until Jan. 4th. We left early, early that morning (5). Went back to base to say our good-byes, they had a party at the bowling alley for us, then to chili’s for a late supper, home late again! Packed our luggage and hated to go to bed, knowing we’d have to say till next time very soon, besides we could sleep on the plane! Hugs kisses, more hugs I love you’s at the airport and it was over.

Trip home hit turbulences and couldn’t eat, move or pee for @10 hours! Couldn’t sleep either! Got a major migraine from the altitude change he kept going higher, then it’d get bumping and fall about 10,000 ft. and he’d have to make the climb again. He had the nose camera on for take off and the beginning of the flight but then turned it off. We got to watch it land though in Chicago. I ate something and took meds. While we went through customs and waited on our connecting flight to Columbus, by the time I landed in Columbus I felt fine or was it just seeing my other daughter and SIL?! LOL what a trip! .

Crystal glad you had a nice holiday. sure is hard givng them back (or leaving them).  will keep your son in my prayers that everything goes smoothly and he gets that position.

James' hoping 2011 is a great year. would be really nice if I knew I'd see my daughter. looking at maybe June 2012.  but a safe year for all our military would help lol
