Just remember we just lost the Father / Husband 6 weeks ago. My husband was Navy retired. I am sure he was smiling down on us today.

My son is busy as much as the next guy, true. But, when you see them post on their Facebook about going out drinking, to the beach every weekend, etc....well....I would have been plenty happy with a phone call.

Suzie, I do understand; however, I feel extremely lucky if my boys were send me flowers but a call will do for now. Jim esp. is not an Admin type. Whereas #2 son has other financial priorities (operating his truck). Yes, some male spp are not Admin oriented; however, they have been taught y flowers and choc will go far in a woman's book. Do not eat the choc even after it is given to her or even if you happen to find (yes I hide mine from them). Never the less, I figure it will work out eventually esp. after they find Ms Right, then she can on their Admin task. Oh yeah, she will be fully informed and delivered a complete turnover. In the mean time, they are truly thinking of you. I highly suspect your son is and has been busy. Yet, looking at the other side of the coin if you happen to forget their birthday, boy one would never hear the end of it . Mom, remember when you forgot my birthday and no packages in the mail!!! LoL

Cora....soooooo sad again! Worse for the parents is that they didnot find out from the Navy, but from fellow sailor(s) who called the parents about their son. I only know his first name was John but I do know women whose sons and significant others were friends with him or knew him. I will see if I can find anything out. I would love to be able to send a card of support. These young men and women totally become parts of our families no matter where they are from or what their rate is and we all feel the loss.....

This is a post from a woman on N4M:

HI all- I didnt mean to make you worry about your sons, but this site gives so much advice and comfort I didnt know what else to do. SO sorry for the scare it mustve given you all. I honestly didnt think about it. His parents had not been contacted yet b/c of the investigation, I assume, so it was not public knowledge. His name was John and my sailor knew because he was one of his best friends. He was in aircrew in Pensacola. The few times I met him he was wonderful. I went on his facebook tonight, and his Thursday post was about his excitement for A-school ending and Sat. night's post was his excitement about halloween. All of his friends went out with him last night and had no idea he was suicidal. My boyfriend was on duty and was not with him. The close-knit friends spent the evening together, and their emotions ranged from sadness to anger to laughing about the last 6 months they had with him. Unfortunately, the news spread like wild-fire and someone called his parents and told them. How sad for this family to hear from the rumor mill instead of the officials at the Navy who had solid information. It breaks my heart. Funeral plans are not made yet. My boyfriend went to his PO and they arranged for him to meet with the chaplain tomorrow. This is the third suicide since my sailor arrived there. Lets just make sure we all tell our sailors how much we value them and actually talk about alternatives if they feel depressed, trapped, helpless, etc. Thanks for listening...

Leon, thanks for the note and yes it is a call both you and your son/daughter will rememeber.
Cora, this is extremly sad and infact we just received an e-mail this morning from the Chief of the AF discussing the same issue. The DoD needs address issue at all lenghts and for it is also a concern with the AR as well. As parents we also need to let our Sen and Reps at the Federal Level they need to look into this matter as well.

Asking for prayers for the family of the sailor who took his own life in Pensacola on Saturday night. Too many young people are somehow feeling they have no other alternative. From what I've been told, this young man had just gotten an A on his recent A school test, was out with friends in a great mood and then a day later was found after hanging himself.....so call your sailor and tell them you love them....remind them there is always an alternative if they just know that we are all out here for them.

Ship-07, Div-360 are going to Battlestations-21 today. If you have a sailor in this ship; be sure to keep your phone near. They're usually allowed a call after they pass.
