LOL ---- My son drank that once, he said all the crew took him out for Habu sake Initiation. he didnt remember even getting back on the ship --the next morning everyone said *hey your a pretty good dancer* ha ha ha I guess he was dancing in the berth. Now I have to tell you my son is very shy and very quite and would never in a million years dance on a navy ship 2 days after arriving and not knowing a soul.
HA-BU SA-KE !!!!

Cora you're a great mom! it's what we do sacrifice. I'm glad your daughter gets to come home and see him before he leaves. Jim is right, at least you know she'll be on US soil for a few days!

I have been there and know what your daughter is going through. In fact 22yrs ago I was given 3 counseling chits in one night on watch because I detested my job as an OT, they treated me like a child even though I was 25, Lastly, and they were not going to allow me to go on leave so I could get married. It cost me $1500 to fly from Adak to MS. I was ready to go to the brig and return my green card. Yes, it is a very difficult situation for you all but this is a life lesson that one often learns when they are in the service. You are at the needs of the Navy and will be until your contract is over. If she can handle and manage the circumstance now other life will be a breeze. Like I am told many times by priest, God only gives up what you can handle. As a parent one does not want to see their kids hurt or be in dispair but feel lucky they have a job, they are healthy and they are on their own. I have not seen my son since Dec 09 but we talk all the time but he has his life and I have mine (I was releaved of duty on June 16, 2009 and now on full time liberty. Well not yet, for I am still trying to keep his brother on course and prepared to fly the nest, which is an uphill battle since he knows it all. Although, once he is gone I will be able to fly. Reading your note, hey Seattle is better than nothing and maybe you can call your local American Legion or serivice org that maybe able to help you out....Having lived in AK for 24 yrs on my own with two boys in tow (with no family) and constant conflict with their dad and the court system, one has to have a Cand Do Attitude and allow no one to say no (if one can not go over the mountain then figure out a way to go around it). Remember you have to remain strong for those young ones for if Grandma is not happy then no one will be happy..In the mean time hang in there and be tough...Our prayers are with you! Your daughter will do find for she has a great example to follow.

Cora, I'm soo sorry. I don't understand all of it, but I know she needs money and you have none to spare. I'm overwhelmed with bills and worries myself and keep thinking good thing the tickets are paid for or I wouldn't be going to Japan. I'll say a prayer for you, her and the BF.

I will find the link again today ---- I have a feeling you are looking at JR pass for those who live in Japan. You want JR pass for travelers coming into Japan :)

I know AK-- but I just think why the heck cant the pizza place give some free pizzas to the FRG for the duty sailors, a costco cake , safeway give a gift card ?? I just wish people understood all these kiddos do is what ALLOWS you to run a buisness -the least the buisness can do is give to those who help them.
