I usually only cry in Church, but when my daughter told me she was going to Japan for three years (she was still in the ME, finishing up her 2nd year, she had come home for her sisters wedding and told me in the hotel room) I excussed myself and said I need a shower, I'd just taken one and dressed to go out. I got in that shower and cried and cried. Really guys we don't do it to get your attention or sympathy, we do it to realease stress! I cry everytime I see her in uniform, well PIR and Once since then (in a Church). I'm just sooooooo PROUD of her and what she has accomplished and what she does.

I have to say from both my sons PIR's the one that still makes me cry is when my sailor stood in the bleachers and recieted the sailors creed , while his brother and new shipmate in front of him recieted the same sailors creed ! OMG tear jerker indeed

Tim & Paul what you gentlemen need to remember is we cry no matter what, we're happy, sad, frustrated, disappointed. angry.......i never yell or loss my temper , i just cry. I did laugh tho Tim, I NEVER wanted to bring any of my children back home. My quote is "can't miss ya till you're gone" but i do worry about them and their saftey (cry again!) lol do not, let me repeat that do not say there there and pat her on the back. Saying I'm Proud too, or look at the man we raised will get you extra points . (wink, wink)

The fun has only just begun Timothy. Yes bring Kleenex and the next thing I highly recommend is learn about the navy and what your son will be doing. Have wifey come find us moms ---the worst thing is NOT understanding because then you can let your imagination run away.
One of the number one things I have seen reciently is NMCB5 --- Almost all ships and commands have a facebook up. NMCB5 is in Afghanistan right now and they are posting pictures daily - I am telling you I have watched the parents going from worried scared to understanding, and even laughing at the pictures. ITS almost desensitizing to understand

LOL, take a black outfit, I could see us trying to sneak on one night.

Well Im not saying you would go into security areas. BUT you could possible meet on the plank and she could possible walk you on to the mess. RThats 100% up to command , but I have been on many ships ---as long as you have a sailor escort you should be fine. Then again they have to ask and it depends on command.
100% i want to go on the Blue Ridge as it will be my only chance to get on a command ship.
Comment by blondie on June 22, 2010 at 10:13am
is that possible? going aboard ship? my daughter works in high security most sailors can't get to where she is, so i'm not sure what goes on on the rest of the ship. with her working on 4 off 2 i won't want to do much but be with her n her 2 off days. but she could probably get us on base one day, when she come to work and we could spend the day together. bringing hubby with me, but he won't mind being seen with 3 women. lol
