There are several nice hotels in San Clemente area, we live here and love this area! We are truly blessed! Here's a list of a few Hotels in the area, I hope these links work! The weather should be warming up by then, enjoy your stay! = )

I was reading the news. A 36 year old Chief on the Ronald Reagan died in an electrical accident Friday. He left behind a wife and 2 year old daughter. His mother left a comment on how she thought he was safe. We always feel or sailors are safe when in port. It is not so. My son knew this Chief. Not real well but enough to say "He was a good man and helped his men. As a leader he will be missed"

Chief West hes in the VP40.
I would love to go on a Tiger Cruise. My son has only been in war zones so I dont think he will be shot at anymore on a boat. I dont want him on a boat forever but the moms I talked to that have children on boats tell me wonderful stories about the places their kids have gone, things they have seen and done.

NavyDCparent ~ Question for you. We will be staying in San Clemente in April to see our son off for his first deployment. I would like to know if there's a inexpensive, but clean hotel in San Clemente. As he's a corpsman, stationed at CP, I only know the Oceanside area.

I had a text from my daughter-in-law while you were having our torrential down pour. They live on the top floor in an apartment bldg and she received a warning of a possible tornado. Scared her to death.

If my hubby could get a job in that area, and was willing to move =), I'd move in a heartbeat.

Sorry to hear all the woes of winter. It's the nice thing about El Nino for us in the Northwest. We've had a fantastic winter...hardly any snow! I don't like El Nina.

My sailor has been to the ice festival in Japan, and they have ice on the ships windows, they can see their breath, wear 4 layers of clothes to sleep in, and must be having some fun with the snowball fights on deck! Said they couldn't see the ship 50 yards behind them moored up when they docked to go to the festival.

Hi all, been out with bad weather, 2 snow storms on top of each other, over 20 inches of snow and 30 mph winds. snowed in twice now but loving it, just miss my computor. LOL

my daughter is still in the ME, for a couple of more months then heading to Japan for 3 years to be on an amphib. all those wishing their cildren were aboard ships, watch what you wish for. depending where they are, there is no communications and they are being shot at constantly!

For you all who have kids at Whidbey Island will be happy for them. WI is a great place to be stationed. I have been down there a couple of times after I was out. There is actually a lot to do and it is not far from Seattle or Vancover. Also there are many who retire with in the surrounding area. Actually, my orginal orders were for WI at the NAVFAC (ASW) ; but swopped them for Adak since it was too close to home and I did not want to wear whites. Ha Ha Although, like many, once I landed in AK, on the rock (Adak), I never looked back. On personal note, all and all I would highly recommend WI as a great location to call home (long/short term).

My son has never been on a ship either. I sometimes wish he was, I'd really love a chance to go on a Tiger Cruise. He had previously been stationed in Sicily, now at Norfolk but currently deployed to the Middle East.

Karen,
My son is also at Whidbey Island. What Squadron is your son in?

I kinda wish my son was on a ship sometimes. At the meet and greet we had lots of moms had "books" of the ship info. They were nice.
