Spoke to Justen last night. He is waitng for the day he comes home. They frocked him yesterday. The ships Captain said he must be new. Justen told him"No, sir I've been here longer than you. I have been on the ship for 4 years. The captain dosen't remember seeing him. Justen said "I keep out of trouble and do my job."
I had to tell him I lost my job yesterday. I am going to take a shower and go apply for a other job I found this am. Really feel like I am kicked in the pants. So close to the holiday and my birthday to. Life Stinks right now at my house.

Hi crystal, been very busy. Sounds like Justin as excited as you are. that's great! hope travel goes well and you have a great visit. what are your plans for Christmas?

Cora, sorry your daughter did not advance. I agree with crystal, send cards, and boxes weekly, i still do! skype is great if you can get the time zone and all to work. there is a group on navyformoms, that all their kids are in Japan, i have joined it getting prepared. LOL i have at least 3 months, but just wanted to get the scoop.

It's hard to keep track of my sailor, i quess that's what they want. last i heard she was healthy. happy maybe not but managing, just like the rest of us. her 2 officers left and now she has to get use to other ones, and they aren't in the loop lets say. they had no plan as far as schedualing after they come of 24 OPS! she's too much like me, gotta have it planned 2 weeks in advance! she's out ranked but she holds more time in the ME and that's her specialty. so other superiors are telling her to step up, take charge, people are watching! so i haven't heard from her for over a week again, so who knows......i'll keep you posted.

Hope everyone has a Happy and Fun Christmas! if you see your sailor, give them a HUG from me, if you don't see them i hope you have contact. You're all in my prayers.

Good morning Moms, Still counting down Justen will be home on the 29th. They have not frocked his division yet. He expects it later this week. He had his dress uniforms changed over to 2nd classs.
Done with my college classes until Jan.2010. Hey , how was James visit home? Anyone hear from their sailors lately? Just trying to catch up . Crystal.

Hey Blondie, Almost done with my algebra course. One more day should do it. I have just a unit test and practice final exam and final exam. Spoke with my son tonight. He is ready to come home. He has 3 duty days before coming. That is how he does his count down. I see 16 days before me. I really do not have anything special planned. Just hanging out together when I am not working. It is 16 degrees out here. such a change from 50 back the 1st of December. Justen did get a new motor cycle. I am worried it is not good in my book. I worked in ICU to many years. He has to wear a helmet. One good thing.
Have you heard from your daughter? I know they were "busy" again. Well I need to go back to sleep just woke up and felt wound up. This always happens near final exam time. Have a good weekend. Crystal

Alot goes into figuring who is advanced. They take and score their evaluations and any awards they have received these are added to the test scores. Many rates are over manned. That is why many sailors go to a different rate. Justen missed it by 0.5 last cycle and they advanced 8% of his rate. This time he made it and they advanced only 6%. Go figure. He also took a BMR review course and studied 5 days a week for at least an hour. Send her a flat rate box at least once a month to help with the home sick part. Put things in you know she likes and e amil her often. It is not easy. I was stationed in Jax Fl. But for about 18 months I was so homesick. Florida was nothing like Pennsylvania. Look how close I was to home.... It takes time and disappointment makes it harder.

they'll only advance if there is a billet open and available...not a new story

Congradulations for your daughter making rank. So cool to move up the chain and now she will have more respect and extra pennies to spend. E-5 is a good rank to be in for you are still technical; however, there is many more opportunites to learn lead and manage (best of both worlds).

AKmom, glad Jim made it home safe, Enjoy!
Crystal, glad he made it, My sailor got Frocked last week already, she's been running ragged with this 24OPS(surge), she was on for 16 days straight, the last 3 with little sleep(1 hour naps here and there.)she called finally to say it's offical i'm an IS2, they went off the surge, she got 2 days off, and today at noon i got a voice mail surge back on, cutting communications, will contact you when i can, Love you guys. so here we go again. you'd think i'd get use to it, but you never do.
Cora, hope your computor is working better, have a nice evening everyone.

Jame's Mom, How nice you have a house full of young people. I love when everyone comes and goes. It is so fun to see the kids that are now young adults. Enjoy your Early Christmas. Wish the family a joyous time. Take lots of pictures. We would love to see them soon. Merry Christmas. Crystal
