Hi everyone I havn't been on in awhile because I'm so disapointed with the Navy Cancelling the TigerCruise because of a few Sailor coming down with what they think is the Swine Flu...... I know it's for our own good but I'm still not happy about it.

Thanks Cindy, My son Michael is a happy Sailor has a great smile, best thing his dad gave him. Has my lips though.....

Cindy, SK is storekeeper. What is HM and FMTB?

Hi Sissi and welcome. My name is Cindy....but not the Navy Dad's Creator Cindy!

My son, Morgan, graduated from GL last Aug., went to HM school in GL, and finished his FMTB training in May at Camp Pendleton. He's now a 'doc' for the Marines. He's currently studying for his FMF pin.

Now that I mentioned a few, of the very few acronyms that I know, would you please let me know what SK stands for?

By the way, you'll find that the other Cindy is wonderful. I'm happy to say she's a friend.

Jackie ~ Will your daughter be an HN or HM? If she's that high in her class and continues to stay there, I'd encourage her to go for FMF. It would be at CL as CP doesn't allow women. The thing she would need to worry the most about Marine training is the runs, hikes, and carrying about 100 lbs. I have to tell you this. The Corpsman at CP say the Corpsman at CL are whimps cuz they don't train as hard as CP does because of the women! Guess there will always be jabbing in the military. Just a thought out loud here, but if she were to go FMF or even FMTB (first), would her chances of getting an overseas hospital be better? Will she mind working in a stateside hospital or does she want to go overseas? You and I are in the same boat. As Morgan's with the Marines, I'm trying to learn the Marine language as well. Seems much more confusing than Navy jargon!

Jodster ~ If my memory is correct, there's an Idaho mom here in Boise whose daughter is in cryptology school. It's like an 18 mth school? When Morgan was living in Seattle, one of his housemates was a Navy SEAL. He wouldn't talk about any of his missions either. What a burden these kids have, at times.

Hi, Moms. I thought I would join your group. For anybody that doesn't know me, my son just finished SK school in MS and I am expecting him home in a couple of days for leave.

Cindy, as far as the shirts, how about navy blue? Too much of a cliche?

Jodster68 - Wow, that sounds impressive! I was concerned there for a moment and thought we all get that special visit....LOL!

Hi Cindy, Thank you for asking for our opinion on the shirts. Any color would be fine with me. I feel the same way as Paige...whatever color it is doesn't matter for I will wear it with a lot of momma pride. Having 2 in the military is not easy, but, I am very proud of their choices and support them in whatever and where ever this journey takes them. Natalie is in school in GL right now and is ranked 3rd in a class of 48. She is doing very well. She said after she graduates, she will be an HN. I am still trying to understand all of this Corpsman stuff. Heck, I am still trying to understand the Marine jargon also...lol. Sure is a lot for this old lady to absorb..lol. She wanted to go FMF, but was told she would have to train with the Marines and they don't usually allow females in. She will probably be in a division that is non-deployable because she is a female Corpsman. If she gets CL, she will be working in the Naval hospital there. It is very rare that a female Corpsman is sent out with a division in battle. They can be deployed, but stay at the base and work in the hospital there. She joined the Navy because she wanted to be able to help her fellow Sailors and Marines (since her brother is a Marine). Each base has their own guidelines they all have to follow.

Thank you son for me also and tell him Congrats. Marines do love their "Docs" and they are greatly appreciated. OOHRAH!!!

Hey Cindy ~ Is this the design that you created? I'm a purple gal, so there's my color. I keep looking for a corpsman t-shirt that also mentions the Marines. So, if you see anything, let me know? I'm gonna keep looking.

Jodster68 ~ Bet that was a fun visit...not. I've heard that any military family is being 'watched' so to speak. Sounds as if your son is trying to get into the high security area. Am I right?

Jackie ~ Wow. 2 kids in the military. Thank them for me and thank you. My son's a corpsman, stationed at Camp Pendleton. He just graduated FMTB and will soon take his pre-exam for FMF. I was so excited the first time I heard a Marine call him 'doc'. What field of corpsman is Natalie going into? I'm still trying to figure out why CP doesn't allow female's and CL does. If you can enlighten me, I'd love it. I know the two camps don't follow the same training schedule, but it's still FMTB.

Jodster68 Why would the Feds come by? Maybe I missed something....
Comment by Paige on July 9, 2009 at 6:12pm
Cindy, I think any color you choose will be awesome! I'm excited to have one also and wear it to show my pride and support. Thanks for asking for our opinion.
