My son, Mike, start OCS on march 28th, 2010. He grew up in San Diego, near Del Mar and is a recent graduate of Univ of Colorado.
Hey Doug,
Congratulations on your son Mike's acceptance to Navy OCS. He has some challenging days ahead of him, but when they are done, he will be an officer in the greatest navy in the history of the world. Enjoy the website - we have been so encouraged to find out even a little bit of information about what our son is going through. Don't expect much more than a single phone call in the first four weeks. Write him often - our son said he got a card on one of his worst days and it made such a big difference. You'll want to keep the letters simple - just paper and writing or maybe a newspaper clipping - no confetti and no packages until the last few weeks. We've been writing to him every day since we got the address
By the way, in case you don't have it, you can write to him at

OC Michael (Last Name)
OCS Class 16-10, OTCN
291 Kollmeyer Street
Newport, RI 02841-1641

May God bless you both

Hey there, James

Congratulations on your daughter's success. I'm not sure what the letter designations mean - my son Lucian Smith is in Class 15-10E. We heard that more than half of his original class either dropped on request (DOR) or rolled to Holding class. The training must be incredibly tough. I'm sure you're proud of her.

We plan to attend graduation 5/28 (barring any delay). Hope to meet you then and your Ensign daughter as well.

May God bless you both

Hey there James,
My son Lucian called tonight and all is well with him. He told me that Jeanna said you had connected with us on this site. How great! He sounded very well although the constant yelling is noticeable in his voice. I can tell the whole experience has been very tough. This week was much more scholastic, and challenging in that regard as well, but nothing like the first four weeks.
Congratulations on your daughter's ongoing success.
