All,
Currently my son is waiting to start Air Crew school. Hopefully, he will be selected anytime now. I want to go visit him, however, I was wondering is there any type of graduation ceremony at any point in the future? (Like "A" school)

Cody just called to let me know he got his orders. As he was told, he is headed to SERE in Cali for two weeks. First day, July 21st. He will check out of P'cola this week and have 10 days to get to California. After SERE he will report for FRAC in SanDiego. Said should be about another year of training, then graduation from FRAC. Was excited that he was going to be training for the new Helo, Romeo. I think I got all this right. Gonna be an adjustment for his mom and I as we are only 4 hours from P'cola. I have relatives in Long Beach, Cali so he will have family close by. His wife and baby will follow soon.
He graduated "A" school on June 21st and got a letter of Appreciation from the commanding officer as he was team leader for the class. I can't tell you how proud I was. I think beaming would be the word. :)
Mine received some extra instruction on several issues, however, once he got in the pool he did fine. He knows now what he needs to work on before he gets to rescue swimmer school.
My son told me the same thing. Everything went well for him. They were being real sticklers for form on pushups and pullups apparently.
My son called me last night to tell me that have alot of rescue swimmer candidates waiting to class up to air crew school. He said that they were going to have rough day today doing major PT to maybe see if some of them wanted to change their minds about search and rescue. I guess it is their way of thinning the herd.
I don't know if they take a break for summer in Pcola ..... they were starting classes every 2 weeks . It does get hot there . Update on Chris : He is in Bahrain . Hurry up and wait ! oh yes found this link http://www.flickr.com/photos/navcent/
Lets hope they get classed up sooner than later. My son was on a 2 month hold in GL because he wrote on a form that he had seasonal allergies. So has experienced the boredom thing to some degree. He now understands the saying "loose lips sink ships".
My son also got to Pensacola today, after a 2 week hold. He heard they will be doing PT, watches, and details (maintenance jobs) until they are classed up. He also heard they are staggering 5 or so rescue swimmers into each aircrew class, so hopefully it wont be too long. I have heard that waiting to class up can be tough, as boredom sets in. I'm encouraging mine to try and stay sharp, work out, and try to put some weight back on after 800div boot camp!
