any other parents out there with kid in boot camp going to rescue swimmer school? Our Daughter Connor will be there abouts mid to end may.
Danny, thanks for the information. He told his mom last Sunday that he gets to be in the front line of his division since his rank is E-3. He said his job was assigning "tasks and jobs" to the other SR's in his division. We are very proud of him (just like all the parents at PIR). I know we will look back and say this was the best decision he ever made.
Congrats to your son and you C.R., you will be impressed with PIR, take lots of pictures and make sure you cheer real loud when your son's division comes marches in. I don't think a week sounds like much of a delay, there is often some lag time before a group "classes up" for an upcoming school, they have to wait to get enough people to form a class. His first school is ACCS and with all of the schools they are looking for two things, attention to detail and teamwork. He is already used to getting screamed at so if he focuses on those two things he should be fine. Good luck to your son and Hooyah!!!!!!!!!!!
Well my son's PIR is this Friday March 29th. He has stay at Great Lakes for a week after he graduates because he has a sinus infection(sounds a little weird). Do I need to be worried that this will put him behind the other rescue swimmer candidates that leave on time?
Welcome aboard Doug! Glad to have another dad on board. All the best to Connor at GL. My son is back in Pensacola preparing to be a RSS instructor after being in Japan for 4 years with HS-14 on the USS George Washington. Let us know when she is coming into Pensacola!
Hi Doug, welcome and congrats to your daughter as well as good luck to her. Those eight weeks at Great Lakes seem to take forever. You already got the "I'm here" phone call and soon you should be getting the "box" in the mail with all the stuff she's not supposed to have or does not need. Letters from family and friends are the most valuable currency at Great Lakes so to help them get through those eight weeks get your family and friends fired up and start writing to her. When my son went through he said it was those letters that got him and his mates through those eight weeks. Keep us posted on her progress. Hooyah!!!!!!!!
Hello all My Daughter Connor Is a contracted Rescue Swimmer and is currently in week one of Boot camp. I am excited to be part of this community and look forward to bragging about her to u all and look forward to hearing about your Brave sailors as well !
HOOYAH Brad congrats
Finally, my son Garrett is stateside after 4 years stationed in Japan with the HS-14 squadron. This weekend got back to Florida at Pensacola and will be a new instructor for the RSS. Currently processing through a program for new instructors, he will be soon one of those who will be instructing your sailors to become a Rescure Swimmer in the Navy. The student now becomes the teacher! Hooyah!!
