Happy New Year everyone ! I had a great time with Chris when he was home on leave and he may not get a chance to be home for the holidays for a few years ... Wishing everyone a great and prosperous 2013 !
Hi All, just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! My son Tom is home until 12/27 and it's been fun spending time with him, he goes back to NS Mayport and should be off on his first deployment in April which he is excited for.
We got an early Christmas present yesterday, a tour of Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT. A student of mine works there doing DOD security clearances and the chief of security is a buddy of mine. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. We walked through the assembly line and saw helos in all stages of assembly. In front of each one was a 50 inch flat screen computer monitor that had the names of everyone working on that particular aircraft, how many hours in and how many hours left to completion. American flags and military insignia all over the place. In the main hanger were about 10 helos, blackhawks, romeos, sierras waiting for test flights. They actually plugged one in for us and turn on the electronics and hydraulics and let Tom fool around with stuff in the cockpit, man there are a lot of buttons and switches. We met some test pilots, one of them had served in my son's squadron, HSL 48 Vipers. Everyone there bent over backwards to accomodate us and were just so nice. If any of you are worried about the quality and care that is taken in the building of these aircraft, do not worry, this is one first class operation and everyone their takes such pride in their work.
Here's a facebook link to RSS archives, lots of pictures as well as a bunch of class pictures, check out the 1980's hairdos and mustaches.
