We are having a great time in San Diego! I can not believe the weather here. It is so great to see my sailor and the progress he has made and the man he is becoming. I got to meet a lot of his "brothers". If your son is out in San Diego I urge you to come visit! The Navy Lodge North Island is awesome, minus the long lines for breakfast. As I'm sitting on my balcony writing this, I'm watching SEAL candidates swimming in that freezing pacific. They are going through hell week this week. Please pray for them. One of the neatest things is that our sons, the rescue swimmers, swam out to them last night in there blacked out wet suits and snuck them some food while risking getting caught. None of them did! WOW! Talk about a brotherhood!

Happy Father's Day!!!

My son goes in the morning to take his first crack at the PST... then, (if he passes) I guess his scores are submitted into some sort of a draft process to determine if or when he goes to Boot Camp.  My understanding is that provided he passes, he would join under the  DEP and continue trying to improve his scores until a spot opens.

Thanks Thomas.  You sound like a great Dad!  Being there training with your son, rain or shine.  Happy Father's Day to you, and all the awesome dads who raised great sailors here!

Sounds like I need to go do a search on "phaso."

Thanks Thomas, I'll check it out.

Brad, You have done a great job on this site. It is so very helpful. Logph- congrats to you and your son, we as dads also have something to do with our sons accomplishments. My son said the same thing, he did not want to go through SERE again but hes proud of the shirt they gave him when he finished. Jack- welcome ! This site is all you need. The men on here are full of knowledge and are very helpful. My son has been in what they call "phaso" and now starts FRAC on Monday out in San Diego. He was not a good runner either during PST's. With my encouragement he ran every other day, rain or shine ! I can remember riding my bike next to him with rain gear on ! Like every one has said here his sights were set on his goal and he has kept focused on the prize at the end! Good luck .

Great job to your son Logph!  A big step for sure.  I am glad this site continues to be helpful to the new Dads with rescue Swimmers in the making.  That was my goal.  All the best encouragement to everyone's sailors who have the passion to do their best in living up to the motto "so others may live"!
