Thank you all. Yea, first thing he said was that he never wanted to do that again. He laughed though so I know he's ok. I just reminded him that this is in his rear view mirror now.
Congrats to your son Logph....passing SERE is major step on the difficult path to becoming a qualified rescue swimmer.
Outstanding! Congratulations to your son Logph. -And I appreciate the encouragment as well as all the information provided on this site. My son is scheduled to take the PST for the first time on Monday. We'll see how he does.
Logph, please tell your guy Congrats for me. That is not really a fun evolution remember when my guy went through it.
Jack, C.R, I just got the call that I have been waiting for...Robert made it through SERE. I tell you this to encourage you and your sons. It is certainly commendable to be at this point in his training. I honestly thought that he would never get here. It is not over, but the wave of confidence is certainly much higher now. This group has been very informational and encouraging to both my son and me. So, if you read it here, you can bank on it. Many well wishes to the both of you as you start this tremendous journey. I'm not going anywhere so if you have questions or concerns, keep asking. One of us dads will certainly jump right in and help you out. Bravo Zulu Robert!!
Hey CR .... I agree with what has been said ... His PST will let him know what he needs to work on ... It took Chris about 6 months to get past his PST ...
Hi C.R., I agree with Logph, eyes on the prize. Your son doesn't have to be a superstar in one or two things, he just needs to be good at everything. If he keeps at it, every PST will show improvements.
Danny
C.R. Encourage your son to stay focused and to not give up!! It can be done. My son started the same way and is now headed for FRAC. I just kept encouraging him and reminding him of the prize at the end. If he wants it bad enough, he can do it. All of this adversity will prepare him for the path to becoming a Rescue Swimmer.
My son took his first Physical Screening Test yesterday. It did not go well. He did alright in the swimming. He swam his 500 yards in 6:31. He did above the minimum on push ups and sit ups. However, he did not do well on the pull ups or his run. He is going to work with the Senior Chief on his work outs. He is going to re-test in 2 weeks after he does some more training. Thanks for all of your words of encouragement.
