Finally got him on a call yesterday.  He had been busy and had duty so he had shut off his phone and put it away.  He has classed up for ACCS, and is moving along.  My wife and I agreed not to call him anymore except on Sundays.  No wonder he wants to be a rescue swimmer as he was raised by "helicopter" parents.

When a sailor classes up for ACCS, do they loose phone priveleges for a while?  We haven't heard from our boy in a several days now.

Things are starting to change.  We enjoyed having both the boys home for the holidays, and so did they.  However, close to the end of his leave, the sailor was ready to get back to the base.  His Navy friends have become important to him.  Anyway, he is back and awaiting his turn to class up and start the ACCS.  I have to say I was impressed with his great attitude while he was home.

Just got word from Garrett, while he won't be home for Christmas, he will be flying in on New Years Eve!  We a blessed to have him home a little late but better than not for sure.  It has been over a year, with him missing his sisters graduation from U of Florida, and her wedding in May.  His sister and husband (2nd LT Marine) have leave until 1/2 so at least they will see each other for one day!  All the best for your families during Christmas and may your sailors be close if not in spirit in person during the holidays!

My son is back at home now and enjoying some time off with his brother.  We did get him a temp pool membership so he can swim all he wants over the leave time.

He has his rocket fins, and mask/snorkle so plenty of practice time available.

Yeah, I realize that the military flight is a maybe deal.  Just wondering about it because we live near the base in Memphis, and he is at the base in Pcola.

Speaking of travel.  How would a sailor get on a military flight somewhere for leave?  Does anyone know that process?  I know my stepdad and mom traveled on military flights quite often when he was stationed in Alaska.  Is this limited to sailors that have finished their A school?

My son Billy is doing great. Very happy with being in pensacola. He is in phase 2 now so that makes things a little better. His group (not yet a class) is waiting to class up some time next year.

He said "dad this is great - all they want me to do is work out - and I get a paycheck!" I told him he is now a professional athlete (albeit the lowest paid professional athlete)

Confusing to me is that they have already had some guys drop after boot camp and before NACCS. Billy couldn't understand that either. Why would that happen?

Hi all,
Anybody know anything about leave chit's in pcola? My son was explaining there has been technical problems putting the chit's into the computer. He and some others still do not have their leave approved.

Michael, congrats and thanks to Paul for continuing to serve! Hope he gets to work with Garrett while in Japan.
