Outstanding Scott! Congrats to Billy, and all the best at SERE. Continued success to him. Be proud, for that is an awesome accomplishment. Tell Billy how proud we are of him!

Outstanding HSC-23, and specifically to your son David for a job well done!! This is what our guys live for, getting saves. Great to hear of one from a dad's son in our group. Bravo Zulo!

Congratulations to the helicopter crew of HSC-23 with Pacific Partnership 2010 aboard the hospital ship USNS Mercy. Yesterday Lt. Clark, Ltjg. Johnson, AW2 Chris Rahal, and my son, AW2 Robert Wells were awarded the US Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal for the rescue, in Cambodia, in heavy fog and rain, in the mountains, of a automobile accident victim, the wife or the US Embassy Public affairs officer. She was in a coma with a severe head injury. Outstanding flying saved somone's life who would not have made it. So very proud.

Just heard from Garrett today! He just passed his boards for EAWS Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist today! He leaves on the USS Cowpens in a couple of days from Japan. The CO will fly on board to pin the Silver Wings sometime in Sept. Now he will have both gold and silver wings on his chest.

Scott, that is great for you to be there, same place as were my son had gone for it. SERE is a bit brutal on them, so be prepared for him to be a bit out of sorts for a while afterwards. They just need to man up and get through it. Some don't want to talk about it, others will. Let him tell you when he is ready. They are so glad to see the American flag when they are done!

Scott, Good luck to your son in Jax. Florida is a wonderful place to visit. He will be fine here in Florida. Coming out at the top of his class is an awesome accomplishment. Bravo Zulo!

My son did some SAR jumps in the waters of Indonesia as part of Pacific Partnership 2010. They are doing a lot of flying supporting the doctors, dentists, nurses, SeaBees, and vets (Yep, this year they took vets to treat animals). At one island in Indonesia, they were told; "We didn't know Americans were so nice."

Brad,
Thanks for the info on the AIRR/AW rating. My son has grouped up with some of the other DEP kids who plan to be seals. So they are all working out together here in Memphis under the supervision of a SEAL.

Is there anything that he could read or study now to help prepare for eventual testing for rescue swimmer? EMT material for example?

Scott, all the best to Billy as he comes into the home stretch for completing A school. Finnish strong and he will get his choice of orders! We in this group are proud of his accomplishment! If he chooses Japan he will be in HS-14, have him look up Garrett when he gets there!
