Congratulations to all the new sailors and their families! It is great to see everyone made it through and enjoyed PIR. All the best to them in Pensacola!

What a great experience PIR was for Sean and family! We had a great time with Sean afterwards for 2 days before we had to leave. He leaves for P'cola on Wednesday for the next stage in his training. Div 852 looked sharp (and no one dropped at PIR) and good luck to all of the new sailors. Sorry we were not able to meet Scott H or John D at PIR and we hope your sons meet with success in all future training.

When Eric PIR'd we drove up on Sheridan from downtown to the base after going through the science museum and seeing U505....it's a nice drive through some wonderful neighborhoods, but sloooooooow. Look for alternatives if possible...........

I missed the call from Sean today but my wife (Molly) got 30 minutes on the phone with him. He was elated to have passed battle stations and is already looking forward to Pcola. We are driving up from St. Louis tomorrow afternoon for PIR. Staying with relatives on Sheridan Rd in the city, so the drive up to GL Friday morning should be interesting. Hope to see all of you there and meet your sons.

Outstanding Dan! All the best to Ian in his continued training. As an Eagle scout he knows the meaning of "Be prepared". The more he prepares on the things mentioned here the easier it will be on him. It won't be easy, but every little edge helps! Let us know when he ships out to Great Lakes. We will be rooting for him!

Well we heard from the recruiter this afternoon, Ian has cleared everything and will swear in this week, he is excited and so are we. It will be one year on Friday since he received his Eagle Scout, this just seems like a progression of events. My wish is that he gets to meet and serve with youre sons. Thank you for the information given hopefully we can put it to good use.

All the best to the group going through Battlestations! I am sure they will do fine, sounds like a quality group going through. Enjoy the PIR.

AWCS Mike Belt was on a normal inspection tour of the RTC Special Divisions and took the time to sit down with the guys for a chat, not something normally scheduled for each Division, it just happened to work out that way. He and I have had a few laughs about my son's name dropping and the fact that he got some special attention at PT the next day. He'll learn soon enough. Rest assured that they are all in very capable hands.

Looking forward to meeting you all this Friday.

Glad to see them going to GL now. When my son went through he didn't get that opportunity. I'm sure that is a big help!

John, thanks for update. We just got a letter from Sean (11/1) in which he describes your son as "that's Dungan whose dad is a master chief"! He went on to tell us about the meeting with the Senior Chief of SAR school and some other Chief's who are rescue swimmers who came to their compartment. They had an informal Q&A about training, the job they aspire to, and daily life. What an impression that made on Sean and a great motivator for A school. John, thank you! The rest of the letter was full of info on acquiring dress whites and blues, black and tan's, getting ready for PFA and their final inspection before battlestations. He sounds ready for his last days in boot camp and PIR. Hope to see you at PIR.
