I am waiting on my transfer papers to be processed and then on orders then I should be heading up to BS to be an instructor up there. Looks like I will get to teach some peoples here kids.
@Phillip- That is correct, if you fail the current PFA you are not eligible for advancement. You can take a mock PFA each month and if you pass that then you can advance. Has your son signed for the E4 already?
@William- When I was in school I remember signing the form that said I accepted E4 for the extra time. If I recall if you do not accept it then you have to do 5 years. Time in rate to take the E4 exam is only 6 months. Only people going up for E4 from the exam are people who were masted and there is always a 100% advancement rate so as long as you pass the exam you get E4 that way.
Phillip, if your a sailor in the nuclear field was not promoted does that mean he is only obligated to 4 years active duty instead of 6? I thought with acceptance of the advancement to E4 you are obligated for 12 months of the 2 year extension for nuke but if you are not advanced to E4 or refuse it you only have to do 4 years in the Navy?
The contract says you have to complete all advancement-in-rate requirements AND A school to get the crow so it is possible to pass A school and advance to power school without the E4.
Does anybody know for sure what happens in this case?
you can get that data on ND at: http://www.navydads.com/forum/topics/physical-readiness-training
My MM@GC is scheduled to graduate A school and come home next friday. But he missed the dash for cash PFA by 11 seconds, twice, so he graduates as an E3. They moved him to his new apartment and said he can redo the test during T track but he still won't get his crow. Anyone know the PFA rules for promotion ?
