You get your dolphins after completing your qual card and oral board on your sub. Same goes for getting your surface pin. Some surface nukes go and get the aviation warfare as well even though it is not a requirement.

It is possible that some of our kids are slightly nerdy.

They truly and literally  make the Navy go.

Like propulsion they call it.

Make it move -- yeah --Hoo-yeayh

Good for her if that is what she wanted. Sucks that they will be on opposite sides of the country now for at least 2+ years. Perhaps I will meet her when I more than likely go there this summer for shore duty.

Just heard from my son Will that he has passed his oral boards and is now qualified. He is going to SD for a fast attack sub duty. It has been a long and trying school time for him and his Dad. Saying that I am proud of his accomplishment is an understatement. I certainly wish all other sailors and Dads good luck with their studies.

LOL@ the comments regarding nerdy nukes.  Magic the gathering (or Dungeons and Dragons in our day) would have gotten ya thrown outta MP division and sent to hang with the twidgets!

Hi Richard, welcome to the group.     I hope your son already plays Magic the Gathering because if not he will have to learn LOL.  My son is an ET he is scheduled to graduate from Nuclear Power School in four weeks.   It seems like just yesterday he arrived at Goose Creek but it was over a year ago.
