Alright Folks, just a little moment to acknowledge the first step.  Class 1137 MM A school just completed their comp.  Also last week they managed to got everyone through the PFA for the first time!  They all get their crows I believe. Very proud of all of them!

Our son passed his oral board and received his orders, the day before that test.  Bangor Washington and the USS Nebraska await him and the little Mrs.  They have final inspection of the home on base in GC this 30th and he reports Oct 5.   Our family just got home from Hilton Head and they were able to come back and forth for a couple of days at a time while we were all there.  It was a great week.  I suppose I'll be looking to find a Nebraska or Bangor page now.   If you have any suggestions or questions, let me know.  Peace to you all and your sailors.

JohnJ,  It is not uncommon for a Nuke not to see the fleet for at least two years.  My son has been in for over four years and just got back from his first deployment in July.  It was almost three years before he finished prototype and was assigned to The Big "E".  Then it was months in dry dock before they finally set sail!  If your daughter is anything like my son and the other sailors she will see that the less time she has to spend in the fleet the better!

My son is graduating Power School Oct 7. I am trying to book a flight home for him that afternoon. Does anyone remember how long the graduation ceremony is at Goose Creek for Power School?

Thanks

Just got word from my son today he received orders to go to Groton Ct for welding school. He's scheduled to graduate prototype at the end of the month. He said word at prototype is he's pretty much guaranteed sub duty with welding school. I'd appreciate any info from parents whose kids have been to Groton for welding.
