Something for the parents new to the nuke program. The way my daughter explained it they take and combine A school clases to form a power school class then the same thing happens for prototype. If your sailor graduates and the beginning of this combining process they will spend a few weeks "on hold'. There was also times during prototype that issues with the plant caused her to stop making progress there as well. All these things can be a little frustrating to them, we as parents have to help them through this as best we can. Keep reminding them that the end result will all be worth it

Hey Eric.

My daughter is at CG she is a MM she graduated power school in Jun and is on a 4/6 month hold waiting for prototype school, there is nothing set in stone yet about NY or CG for her , as they do not know yet where as there is two graduated glass yet to go that are still yet to go to prototype my daughter has been at CG since Jun 2010, so i think its going to be a while yet before he knows, as i said in will be either Oct or Jan 2011 before my daughter moves on, so you can work out a time frame for your son, i guess he would be looking at 2011 before he would know.

Our son's down at Goose Creek now, set to graduate next Fri, 8/12, has his comp on Tues. He's an MM, been down there since last Aug for A school(3 mos) and power school(6 mos). He's pretty sure he's going to NY for prototype, but they've not been told anything definite.

with the lack of money (thank you Congress/Presbo) it is no wonder that there is conflicting info.....

Hello all my son Joshua is in OCS presently then on to Nuke school. The big question is when will class start in Charleston. He keeps getting different information from Newport. He graduates OCS mid September.  He in NUPOC program and nobody can say is it 1 year in Charleston or only 1/2 and then to NY?  Then Sub school.  As a parent we would like to know a little bit of what he is getting into and were he will be the next year or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Paul.

Son passed the final unit test of ET school called ICE (I think it is instruments & control equipment) all that remains is the comprehensive review exam four days from now. Chief has told him to sew the petty officer "crows" onto his uniform, that sure is a good motivation for the class to keep studying hard.

Tex I am rooting for your son he is in the class just 1 week behind mine. Keep the faith, I am sure he will get it done.

Yes Paul, I was aware of OPSECS and I'm sure he will get with me when the time comes. I guess I'm just getting pretty excited!
