Our son has Verizon and had the same issues within the barracks, spotty coverage and occasional loss of signal.  He was also lucky he had a room facing out and could simply step outside and the signal was better.  In the rest of Goose Creek and the area never had a problem.

How good is the cell phone reception at Goose Creek?  Does anybody know?

In this case the carrier is Verizon.  Thanks.

And to all of Russell's graduating class this Friday.

Congratulations of completion of your Power School portion of your schooling.

Good Luck on Prototype!

Well, it has been a while, we had our interview by NCIS last Friday and yesterday (Monday).

Our Special Agent reminded us of McGee on the TV show, a female geek with a gun.

Out of the interviews I got from her is the preliminary working theory on Russell's death is "OH SHIT" this should not have happened. And she said that the toxicology screening included a experimental tests that the Navy is developing for the use of "Spice." And all the interviews have not come up with anything indicating depression or suicidal trends. Quite the opposite!

Yeah, we went but our son graduated in May last year and it was outside and really hot. I know there are indoor contingencies for bad weather but as far as a Feb graduation I really do not know about in or out.

Has anyone gone to a Power School graduation? I hate to assume it will be indoors. Anyone? Our's is Feb 25... Yes, I'm bored.

John, Yours will be waiting about 2 months then? That doesn't seem too long compared to some that graduated Aug, Sept that seem to just be getting started. When did he find out where he was going? We are planning to go to graduation Feb 25 and are wondering if he will have get to stay there till he "classes up" or moving out and up to BalstonSpa (if thats where they send him) right away. He and his wife have a house there on base that would be nice to stay at if they stay for a few days.... LoL... It seems theres no vacations involved in these trips. We were there in August when they moved into the house and helped with all of that. But, its all good and can't wait to see them.
They are coming home this 17th for 2 weeks and Christmas. I can't believe that gonna happen.

Merry Christmas to all!

Congrats Pop... My son's looking forward to Power school graduation, Feb 25. We can't wait to see that. Did your son choose San Diego? Or does he think he did? ha

As far as we have heard from our son, all singles live in barracks through Power School. They have converted many of the Petty Officer single rooms into doubles to accommodate the large number of students which is really tight. Yes, once graduated from Power School, they must move out of the barracks, often on graduation day so they need to have their apartments set up ahead of time. A warning to all, stay away from Brentwood townhomes on Harbor Lake Drive and other complexes by that owner. Our son lived there and there was flooding. Several sailors cars were totaled due to the flooding and the complex refused to take any responsibility. They have been treated terribly in other ways as well, so tell your sailors to stay away from that complex.
