Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. My son is a MM he's completed his Nuke and Prototype schools. He's been on a few underways and is working on his qualifications. Happy to be aboard.

Jeff....I know what you mean. My son was telling me about some rope obstacle course they found near Ballston. 60 feet in the air using 3 ropes and logs to get across 5 different courses. He loved it.

My son got the same shift schedule - 7 days on 2 off - then they throw in a "T" week as well I guess......He is in Ballston Spa and loves it - he and one of his buddies have been out kayaking thyis past weekend and found some great scenery and a little whitewater. Most fun thye have had in quite a while I guess......he is glad he is up there - something different.

My son got his schedule for Balston. 7 days on and then 2 days off with rotating shifts. Got a suprise when he came home this weekend for a quick visit. Living less than 3 hours away sometimes does have it's advantages.

Joe. My son chose NY and was happy to get it. He told me it is a combination of choosing NY over GC, grades (he scored a 3.48), having your home within 400 miles ( we live about 225 miles away) and most importantly remembering the navy does what the navy does. Until he picked up his orders after graduation, he still wasn't 100% sure he was going.

Thanks Mike, my son is an EM. I didn't consider that EM/ET/MM is probably a major consideration into who is going where and when. We are so proud of him we want to see everything fall into place for him. He doesn't whine at all. He is in the military and that's the way it works.

Good chatter guys. I have an EM with a few weeks left in A school. Peace to all!
