My son got the same word yesterday - now he is not sure if or how many room mates he has or does not have......... my wife made plane reservations and now that is all changing based on the new info......... my experience with the military - NEVER ASSUME and get used to making very late travel plans. My wife gets frustrated with the constant changing, but that is part of how the military operates. It may be more difficult on the parents, but the sailors are getting ready for finals and comps......they need to be focusing on that and not on the potential move.......so we can help by trying to be the constant in their life right now I guess.........

My son called last night and told us his roommate for Ballston was told he will be on hold in SC for 6 months after graduation. Now my son needs to find either a new roommate or get a 1 bedroom apt. when he transfers (if that is still on). He said don't count on anything until the papers are in his hand and then that's still not confirmed until his butt is headed north. I still think it's harder on the parents than it is the sailors though. Sometimes I think the navy plays mind games to see how well the sailors adjust to the constant changes being made.

It's huge alright sheryl and top to bottom communication is NOT their strong suit. our son who is not one to speak when he his not sure, told us he was told "definitely BS,NY. A day later he called ,nope it GC after grad.from power school.....this navy dad is not happy, why misinform sailors at a time when they testing to the finish line at school?

Sheryl. I think he said his roommate is going to be in Georgia right after, that is why he wants my son to choose.

He lives in San Diego. Ask your son if his son to be roommate is from SD, a MM and has a room by himself right now. Good clues. My son is studying too hard to try to pass right now for me to ask him.

Wonder if my son is going to be your son 's roomate! He said he was letting his roomate pick the place (which I thought was weird). ??

I am in the gray world! My son has been looking via the internet but we will physically check out a few places after graduation. Then we will move him up there. He will have a roommate so he is looikng for a 2 bedroom. His roommate told him to make all the arrangements so it should be interesting. We will then drive home to pick up some furniture that we have to give him and haul it back up once he finds a place. (about 8 hours round trip).

Our son requested and is tentatively scheduled to stay at Goose Creek for prototype. He said his hold will be about 2 months which he will continue to live on base, or so he is told. Orders always can get changed. He was going to rent a bedroom from a house rented by a married couple but the sailor, who was told he would stay in GC is now scheduled to go to NY. Nice they did that to a married sailor. Oh well, that is the military for you. Our son is now looking for a place to live off base so if you know anyone who is staying in GC, let us know, maybe they can room together. My son graduates on May 14 th as well and is an EM.
