It has been mentioned to me that as a matter of security, it is best not to use last names on this site. Just thought I would mention that.

My son also said not to both with A school graduation, since it was a single section(30 sailors), that it would not really be worth the trip. He came home on leave immediately following A school graduation too which would have been problematic if we had attended. He says Power School graduation is well worth it since there are approximately 10 sections and the ceremony is great. As for prototype, he thinks there is no formal graduation as each sailor is required to meet certain benchmarks and they tend to finish at different times, some earlier, some later. Not positive about the prototype but that is what we hear.

There is a graduation for all as I understand it.....my son told us not to come for the A school, but should not miss power school....I think the power school graduation is a ceremony just as bsaic training was.....my son is an MM as well.....he enjoys that and is staying with that. I worked in Commercial Nuclear Industry for 20+ years and I worked with ELT's ......they said that they enjoyed that job as well......personal preference I guess. We did hire many ELT's into the operating department and sent them for a license......

Hello fellow nuke Dads,
My son just got to GC and we plan to come down in Aug. which would put him beyond A school? He is MM1. He also mentioned he is on hold. So my question is, is there a graduation for "A" and prototype and Power or just the last 2? also trying to get him to go ELT. ( a good choice?)

My wife stayed at the Villas at GC and was very pleased with the accomodations........she said that they were very clean and has made reservations to stay there again.

Please let me know what you think of the villas. I use to stay at the AFB VLQ which were like small efficiency apartments and was always happy with them for about the same price you are paying.

Actually the Villa's at GC are remodled base housing. They have two, three and four bedroom units.

We are staying in a three bedroom at the end of March. I guess one room has a queen, one has a full, and the last has a twin.

They have full kitchens and are furnished. From what I understand, they are pretty basic, but nice and clean.
We are staying for 8 nights and it only cost us 480.00. Not a bad deal!!
