My son's PIR is 2/19 and he will be departing on the 20th for GC. He is an ET and his class starts 4 MAR. We will be glad when NMT phase one is over, as we live about 100 mi from GC.

My son has enlisted into the Navy and has been accepted into the Nuclear Program. He will go to Chicago in May and then on to Charleston after that. I am so proud of him and look forward to being part of the NUKE family.

Steve:
They do have limited on base lodging for family members. Have your son look into it for you. My son said the reservations must be made by someone down there.

My son has been in GC for two days now. Any good advise for him regarding just everyday living? He knows the work will be pretty intense soon enough. He said something about having two weeks before school actually begins.
I wish they had a Navy Lodge there. That was a great place to stay for the money there in GL. Maybe someone has some hotel/motel suggestions for our first visit on a limited budget?

There are several other good youtube videos on the Navy's nuclear training including the officer side of nuke training.
