KenH - San Diego is beautiful - we live about an hour from there. I would love it if my son ended up there but won't get my hopes up!
Enjoy your road trip to San Diego!
Brian - our son passed and was very pleased with his score. Like you said now it's "On-Crew" and the fun begins! I'm looking forward to talking to him tonight to see how things are going. I don't remember if he said they were starting on-crew today or next Monday.....
When I went thru the school Class 8003. Power School was the hardest part by far. It remains to this day the hardest thing I've ever done. Prototype was easier. Being on submarines wasn't easy but was better than school. Even with a 90 min bus ride to the site every shift.
My son is in Phase 2 of A school now. Congratulations to all the kids who're graduating this week.
"Needs of the Navy" will prevail.
When our (my) kid get to the fleet - no sunshine for a week at a stretch, and that's on a carrier. All the training, and power school, and prototype will be past. They will be qualifying and re-qualifying and tested and re-tested for all the watches they can stand.
Sometimes you won't get a message from them for a long while. They can't say where they are, and maybe don't know.
Their shipmates will be totally dependent on them for making the ship move.
The training part has had all us parents (but our kids much more so) worrying and stressing.
When our nuke kids get to the fleet, the difficult part has just started. They have to make the ship go. Absolutely, no errors, ever.
Bless em all.
My sailor just graduated A school. Now on to Nuclear power school. May the Lord continue to bless him and all our military.
B'sNukemom How did your son do? Amanda told me she passed. ......And so the fun begins
@KenH Did your son put down west Coast on his wish list? My daughter wants the West coast but everyone is telling me to tell her to choose eat Coast if she wants the West
