KTR - Wow - I hope you are able to juggle everything!  I'm sure you'll have a great time in NY.  Graduation and a birthday - what a great celebration you all will have!

Bubblehead - Bravo Zulu to your sailor - that's awesome!

Eric - that's exciting for your daughter!  Is she all ready to go?

Scott - sorry to hear that your son might not get Christmas leave.  I may have read somewhere that they do have to keep a "minimum" of staff around.  Not sure though - and don't know how they decide. Did he say for sure he doesn't get leave?  Hopefully someone else will know more on here.

So I am a little confused. I have been informed by my son that some new ET's are not getting leave for Christmas even though the school is shut down. It's not like they have started classes yet. Anyone else here this?

Well..... My daughter was contacted by the nuke Chief this morning wanting to know if she wanted to ship to boot camp next week. Looks like she will be starting her Navy career very very soon! Works out really well as her friends step brother got to GC Friday!!!!!so excited!!!!

Today, I had the distinct pleasure of pinning my old dolphins on my son on a pier-side ship's assembly.  His boat (all boats these days) have the tradition of reading a "story" (usually a blub from submarine history) that the new submariner picks.  My son picked a story he found on the web (and I had told him from personal experience) of the time that a couple of "lubricated" sailors from the USS Permit painted dolphins on the stern of the USS Chicago (a cruiser) during a visit to Japan.

A great ceremony.

Well, I did hear from him today.  Not sure if it's a coincidence, but it gibes with what I read on Navy moms - the 24th, and I was not supposed to return from Eastern Europe until later that week.  And to top it off, his only brother's birthday is that week as well.  So looks like we are having a double celebration - wonder if NYC is a good place to spend a weekend, lol.

KTR, while I cannot comment on your sailor's graduation I really feel your pain.  My sailor had many delays during prototype due to issues with the training boats at GC so we had about a 1 week notice. To top that off, after plans were made they found out that family and friends were not allowed at their grad as there was a NPS and A school grad going on the same day. BUT the good news was we got to spend a great weekend with him. Good luck!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We got to talk to our Sailor twice this weekend - on Thanksgiving and our usual Sunday night call.  His car arrived on Wednesday (11pm!) so he is a happy camper.  Wasn't supposed to be there until either Sat/Sun so it was nice it made it there early (and with no incidents!).  He and his buddies are hoping to firm up their housing in Ballston Spa in the next couple of days and they have their MTMO final on Thursday. He's planning on rooming with a sailor from Lancaster, PA. Anyone on here claim him?

KTR - Hope you can find the info you are looking for - that's awesome that your son is almost done with Prototype!  Ours is just getting ready to finish PS (graduation 12/13) and then head to BS.....can't wait to see him next week!

Happy Monday All!

Hey all.

OK, so between the Prototype work schedule, my son's communication style, and the way things work in the Navy, I feel like a complete NOOB when it comes to planning for graduation.

Does anyone have any real, good information about Prototype Class 1302 graduation that they can share?

Thanks, and Happy Advent!
