My daughter is in the same boat. Not at the top but not at the bottom either. She had 4 wisdom teeth pulled on Thursday so she was restricted to her room Thur. & Friday.....Sh had a lot of catching up to do over the weekend. We worry because we want the best for them and for them to succeed in life. When I talked with her last, she said they had 6 weeks left and 13 exams. That was a few weeks ago, but yes I would agree, this is definitely crunch time. I wish him, as long with all the other Sailors the best over the next 3+ weeks
Hey Brian - well hopefully we will all be there together! That's nice that you are close to BS - our son keeps getting further & further away, but I really do hope he gets NY......He's a little older too - 24, but it doesn't lessen the worrying! It's getting down to crunch time with these last few weeks of tests - I hope & pray my son can keep his grades up! He's nowhere near the top of the class but he's good with where he's at....and he's giving it his all & that's all I can ask for!
My daughter is also graduating the 13th and yes, I am just as nervous. She also keeps saying everything is good and she's doing fine. She is a little older (25) but I will keep worrying until she is completed the whole Nuke program. I will be down for the graduation in Charleston. She is also hoping for Ballston Spa. We are only between a 3-4 hour drive from there.
So we are getting close to Power School grad (12/13). I'm nervous as can be - son isn't too too stressed but he is a little concerned. 2 big tests this week - Tues/Friday. He keeps assuring us "all is well!". He is hoping to go to Ballston Spa for prototype. Says they should find out on 12/2 for sure. He has his roommates picked out & then they will look for a place (providing they all get the same orders!) - he said probably an apartment or condo. Found out leave will start on 12/20.....if he is grad & go to BS leave will be 12/20-1/13. If he stays in GC it will be 12/20-1/6. He will get to come home (to Cali) for Christmas! Of his (hopeful) roommates, one is from Florida (I know his mom) and the other is from PA. Anyone else out there going to PS grad on 12/13?
Sent my son off Monday, got the "I'm here" call last night. Mom is a little edgy, I'm retired from the Coast Guard so I've played the game, albeit a long time ago. Great to be onboard, hope to share and get some useful information as the next several months go by. Great site, thanks for being here for us all!
My MM only got 6 weeks of grad hold and was disappointed. They made him a duty driver in GC last June, he loved the easy work and wanted a longer vacation. I bet our kids know each other. Last July he bought a car with his PS bonus and moved to BS, NY.
Hey KTR, We really are in the same place with our kids and communication. My MM said he was too busy getting sigs and arranging watches, before they shut the plant down for 5 weeks tomorrow, to pay attention to the drama, but he heard about the mass mastings at BS.
Got relief when I finally heard from him yesterday, he was surprised that I heard about it. I am sooooo ready to finish up this pipeline training stuff and get out to the fleet, not to mention the enlistment bonus.
2 weeks to go.
