Great experience at Power School graduation last Friday.  The quest speaker was the most recent CO of the PCU CVN-78, he congratulated the graduates then told them of the challenges ahead, both at proto-type and the fleet.  My son is now on the Jersey Turnpike headed to Ballston Spa.  Congratulation to all!!!

I must apologize for my oversight.  Of course we will be very proud of all the young sailors, both hardworking women and men, crossing the podium.  Thanks for the reminder.

David, remember there are young women as well crossing that stage.

Very proud of all the young men who will cross that stage on Friday.  One more hurdle tomorrow morning and it is time to take it easy for a few days.

I'm looking forward to Power School graduation this Friday and some great weather in Charleston.

I am a member of the United States Submarine Veterans base in Goose Creek and we meet once a month.  We have over 350 members and have over 100 at every meeting.  Charleston was a huge sub base back in the 50's to 90's  There is no stronger bond I have ever experienced than that between submariners and especially nuclear trained submariners.

Karl brought up a great point. When your kids do graduate from power school, they can also do a couple of things to better themselves and also give them some focus. I've known kids who have done a lot of volunteering for different organizations and get most if not all the required hours for a Volunteer Service Medal. This gives their uniforms a little "chest candy" so to speak. Another thing that some of the kids have been successful with is getting some college courses knocked out while waiting. I can get some additional information and add another comment.

When our sailor graduated power school he took two college classes on base before prototype began.  That is a great way to spend the time rather than duty if that is offered.
