Can anyone verify that sailors who complete basic or technical training may request 10 days of leave en route if their first duty station is in the CONUS (within the states)?

Thanks Douglas H, I read that last evening after placing this post.

Appreciate your assistance.

TJ, check the information in the "Your Sailor's Schedule..." above.  They are limited to a 75 mi radius from GC for at least the first four weeks so I doubt they will be allowed to travel much then.  My sailor (in the fleet for 3+ yr now) had liberty after passing A school but even for Thanksgiving and Christmas after that he was not allowed to come home.

Our son graduation from PIR is 11 December.

He is headed straight to SC.

He stated that he has Liberty from December 18 thru January 4th.

Are there travel restrictions? We live in Memphis Tennessee and would like to have him home for Christmas?

Thanks in advance.

David - our son finished PS on 12/18/13 & didn't start proto until 4/14/14.  He was in Ballston Spa though & they were having some issues with the reactor....He ended up spending just over a year in NY.

My son graduated Power School October 30th but does not start Prototype until January 2016, anyone else in the same situation? He is ET in Goose Creek.

@ TJ - Our MM left GL around 0100 on Saturday. We met him at the airport. Once he was all checked in we grabbed breakfast with him then waited with him at his gate (you will get a pass to go beyond TSA check point). His flight left around 0600 and went straight to GC. It will be a long (and too short) emotional 24+ hours beginning the morning of PIR. Unfortunately he had to be back at GL command by 2000 on Friday night. I believe all the Nukes had to be back at that time due to leaving for the airport. The good news is they have their phones once they get to the airport so at least we could make contact easily once they leave for GC. It's a crazy ride, try to enjoy it. Don't let your highs get too high or your lows get too low. After all, we don't ride the roller coaster to get back to the platform, we ride it for what happens in between the take off and the arrival back.

You usually fly out the next day.

Most fly out of Chicago sometime on Saturday.
