Sorry guys, I accidentally uploaded a picture of my Grandbaby on here! I was trying to get my son in uniform to change the picture I post with to that, but uploaded the wrong one and can't seem to delete it! Oh well. Sorry

Thanks Wendy for responding, I will check the Nuke comments on Navy mom.com. I am now worried because my son is talking about getting "sleeves". Arms full of tatoos. As a Nuke, in or out of the Navy in the end will that affect his job opportunities???? I wish he wouldn't but he is 19.

Dan just called and said he passed his written test for prototype school, now he has to finish his signature book and his oral examine on the 1st.

Scott...... Luke did tell me that Ballston Spa has 1 reactor down so that anyone going there is constantly having their dates changed until they are back up to full speed.

Wendy..... You are so right about the phone calls. My wife and I wait until he calls us, which is always a pleasant surprise. He has his laptop with him so we are able to send him e-mails daily and have told him to just reply or call when he has free time. So far, we are lucky that he has called us on average twice a week. Usually on Friday to tell us how he plans to spend liberty and then either Tuesday or Wednesday to tell us how he enjoyed it and how much work he had put into his classes. He said his instructors stressed getting out and not getting too bogged down in the books. They need to clear the heads every week. So far, it seems to be working.

My son is in Charleston at Goosepoint and was supposed to start Nuke school today. I don't know much about it, but I know it is extremely hard! I am praying for him. Now they have changed his start date to next Monday. I am sure he is very nervous and cleaning every day until then is not fun! What should he/I expect? Hasn't even had his first day yet!

GP,
What I've learned in the 1 1/2 my son has been in the Navy going through the nuke program is nothing is set in stone. My guess is they simply eliminated some down time Luke was going to have. Dan's dates are changing all the time, at one point he was supposed to leave for Ballston Spa in early January then late January and finially he strated school in Goose Creek on Febuary 15. It drove him nuts but him and his buddies ended up staying together so it all worked out for the best. Rember just to continue to encourage Luke because it will get hard for him, this school is tough.

My son Luke just started A school. Was told his graduation date is Oct 9. Originally it was Nov. 6. Is this normal to shorten the course by 4 weeks?

My wife and I just returned from a long weekend in Charleston with our son. He is an MM about 1/2 way through school. I think he said that he would graduate 9/11........One of the things that I was very impressed with wasteh group of friends that he has made with classmates. We spent Saturday at the beach with he and a groups of about 20 and they were all very well mannered people. Congrats to all Navy parents - we should be extremely proud of our sons and daughters accomplishments. The school they are going through is one of the most difficult in the country.

Hello all,
Dan called over the weekend, he said he's almost finished with prototype, takes his written test on thursday and I think the following week he has his boards. He is waiting patiently well not so patiently for his orders to come through. He is hoping to head to San Diego next.
