Aaron is having a great weekend, just relaxing and catching up with friends and family. We are all very proud of him, and the change is impressive!

When he goes back, he will start Power Prep and then go on to Power School and Prototype. He showed me an overhead picture of the base in GC, and it looks really nice. They have it really good there, better than we did in Orlando! (But, I think they still manage to find things to complain about...) : )

Aaron finished MM "A" School yesterday, and is home for 10 days leave! It is great to have him home, when he goes back he will go through Power Prep and then start Power School in Class 0906. He was very happy to put that "crow" on his dress whites!

Mike K ,My family and I were also there visiting our son on the 4th of July.We were one of the many thousands at Patriots Point on the 4th. I highly recommend a visit there too.Charleston is a beautiful place ,lots of history to see... and shopping to do ......

You won't regret it. Yeah, the Yorktown is quite a ship and if you take all 6 tours you see a lot of it, though still only a fraction of the entire ship. The destroyer and Coast Guard Cutter were closed as they are getting them ready for drydock. The sub, though small by today's standards is also quite a boat. It really gives you an idea of the tight spaces on subs. Especially significant if your sailor will do subs. I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did ours.

My wife and I just went down to see Steve over the 4th weekend and had a great time. He is looking great and doing really well. Half way through A school and looking forward to a break between schools. Charleston is a great area, HOT but really nice. Spent the 4th at Patriot's Point, what a great experience. I highly recommend a visit to your sailor if you can at all make it, you would enjoy.

Hi Scott. Give Dan an attaboy from me -- though neither of you know me. Lived through this with my daughter. The thing to keep in mind is -- none of these fine young people would be where they are if the Navy didn't think they could do it. And the US Navy has a lot of experience in selecting and training nucs. And when each new nuc graduates, he or she will have learned that their capabilities are greater than they thought. Not a bad thing to learn.

Dan called home last night. He is no longer delinquent, he is all caught up and back to only 12 hour days instead of 14 hours. He is counting down the days til graduation in August.

Hello Everyone, We are here for TOTAL SUPPORT, I would like to share with all vistors to the Nuke site that as Dads, Mothers, Family Members and Friends, That the Nuke School is Very Hard and each Sailor must be Mentally, Physically and most important Emotionally able to handle extreme pressure. They (the Navy) do this so these Sailors will ready for any situation and will not crack under the pressure.
All I can say is that I am very proud as you are and support EVERYONE of OUR Military Personal.
When my son was going through his A School and telling me how hard it was, my answer was always the same, "If it was easy everyone would be a Nuke".

There are a lot of very, very serious assertions being posted. Please, friends, think first. And think about whether there are other ways to raise these concerns. I have 2 nucs in the family, and I'm no Pollyanna -- I've been around. But let's not become part of the problem, OK?

Jim, Is your friend a member of Navyformoms.com? If she isn't already, she can get advice and support from other moms who have been there (there are about 650 members in the nuke moms roup alone). In particular she should go to navyformoms.com/groups/nukemoms and talk to the woman who started the group. No one has all the answers, but she may find some moral support and clarifications that may calm her fears or help her encourage her son.
