Lady I work with has a future son-son-in-law who is a nuke Officer.  She says, he says, Officer power school and and Prototype are harder than the enlisted versions, I told her

I don't know about that.  Does anyone have any clarity on her statement?  What I do know is that NukeSon who is a fairly recent graduate of both, now second class and on

the USS City of Corpus Christi has acquired $108,000 in Navy bonus money so far.  So I don't think it really makes any  difference if Officer training is "harder" than enlisted,

maybe it's who gets the most bonus money?  I didn't want to be rude but, I thought officers and enlisted  were on the same team, and it wasn't really a competition!!  In fact,

the journey starts over again to do  quals to earn their Dolphins...... in the shortest amount of time.

Hi all - Happy Friday!

Lots of sailors graduating Power School and Prototype today!  BZ to all of them!  (and BZ to those with PIR today too!)

Dennis M --
Once a Nuc, always a nuc. No way out. Short of dishonorable or medical.
"BAD REACTION" haha - :) cute pun.
I've no secondhand word about Stennis. I've heard bad words about George.
My sailor liked Abe.
Once you sign up for Nukke - your stuck with it for 6 years.
Try for another ship -- getting de-nuked not likely.

David's mom - you are correct! Hubby & I couldn't remember his name but knew his initials were JR. Hubby looked on line & this was the first name he saw & it was the right initials! We definitely met the current CO & he was extremely nice & informative.
Dennis - sorry to hear that your son is unhappy. I hope things improve for him.

Hi All - Happy First Day of Fall!

Had a great time in San Diego at Fleet Week.  Spent a lot of time on the Nimitz - got to meet the Commanding Officer - Capt. Jeff Ruth.  He has been through the nuke program (when he was 42!).  He saw my hubby's hat that he was wearing (say's NNPTC Power School) and came over to speak with us.  Very nice man.  Some interesting stories he shared.  Also met a nuke chief that we spent over an hour talking to....he answered any question that hubby & I had and was just a pleasure to speak to.....put my mind to ease a bit about what to expect when sailor hits the fleet ;-).  Also toured the USS Somerset which is named in honor of the passengers & crew of United Flight 93 that crashed on 9/11 in PA.  It is an amphibious transport dock.  Very emotional... Overall we had a great time - if you ever get the opportunity to go to Fleet Week I highly recommend it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

My sailor (MM2) found out that his student advisor from prototype made Chief but then got caught up in the cheating thing.  He was bummed because he knew this sailor would have made a great Chief. I asked if he thought he was involved or just caught up in it, and he replied "probably a little of both". It is just sad that these talented people felt it necessary to "work" the system.

Hi All - Happy Tuesday.  Spoke with our son yesterday.  He took the 50% exam back in July and as of now we still don't have any new news on when he will finish - hurry up & wait!  He sounded a little tired but otherwise he is doing well....almost ready to be "plant limited".

Thanks for the comments everyone. We/I follow the Navy news fairly closely and thus have been aware of this since the news broke last winter while son was in Boot. Yes, very glad this was exposed before our Sailor started the program. Sorry for those who got caught in the middle. Always nice to get insights from all you guys on this forum.

Grant - fortunately your son shouldn't have any issues with this.  Like Joe M. said this broke a while back and since then they have brought in new instructors and cleaned things up.  That was unfortunate for students like Joe's son & others who had to redo their checkouts...all that work they did and then to have to do it again - ugh!

My son is in proto in Ballston Spa.  When it came out I mentioned it to him and he said they were briefed on it and then told not to talk discuss it.
