Happy belated Father's Day to all.  Mike is finished at GC and home for another week.  Had a great family get together on the Jersey shore.  His Grandparents(ages 91 and 92)    were totally surprised and impressed when he walked in , in uniform.  We're back here in NY and have some local plans for a few days.  Hope to get to a Yankee game this week.  We haven't been able to do that in a few years.  Then next week he leaves for Bangor WA and the USS Kentucky.

My son made it home for Father's Day!  They're working him hard on the boat.  I guess the old boats just need lots of TLC.  The good news is that he just qualified EPCP.

6/14  Great way to spend Flag Day, my Matt was home on leave and we got to spend the day fishing together. First time in a year we have been out, he didn't lose his touch and put Pop to shame.

Great Fathers Day Present!

JoeM,  my son is in from GC and I asked him about moving.  He said he thinks he is still eligible for a move from his "home of record"  since he did not use it to move to GC.  So, I'm not really sure   what he is  eligible for at this point.  I do know the Navy is moving everything from GC to WA.  While he is here I want him to go through  all that is here and see what he wants and how he'll get it out there.  When he was planning his move from GC I think he asked someone if he could have his things moved from GC and NY  at the same time and that's when he got the "only one move"  answer.  Anyway I'll leave it to him to decide.

Good luck to you and your sailor.

mlongst, I deleted my last comment (I couldn't find a way to edit it) since I realized I was allowing some personal venting to come through and it may have come across that I was challenging your advice when you were only trying to help me with a question I had previously posed.  That was not my intention.

I still THINK our sailors are entitled to both a move from GC to their next duty station AND a Home or Record Move to that same duty station.  I hope to confirm this belief and will report back.

In the meantime, the Navy does have a website regarding the moving of household goods and personal property:

http://www.navsup.navy.mil/household

This page (Types of Moves) on the site defines the "Home of Record" move.

They also list a toll free help line: 1-855-HHG-MOVE, and I have found the customer service folks there to be very helpful.
