Hi Ted! Thanks! Same to you guys! My wife keeps in touch with Sharolyn on a regular basis and said she'd send pics. And our son brought home a nice portrait of their class! He's soaking up his Southeast Louisiana homecoming before heading back Monday! He even ran a 2 mi cross country race with us & his little sister's team yesterday! He's still in pretty good running condition. Will keep in touch!

Our EM surprised us last Friday! After passing A school enjoying a quality 10 days before he heads back to GC for 5 week hold then starts Power school. Was a nice 25th anniversary present! Since he's a former cross country runner, & his sister still runs, enjoyed visiting with his old team yesterday & tomorrow will join some of us parents & the XC team for a 2 mile fun race that's held every 2 weeks & our coach gets the team to run for practice. Going to miss him when he goes back, but his attitude is very positive & looking forward to continuing studies.

Unfortunately Grad hold is fairly common. My son was grad hold for two months back in 2011. The up side for him was that his Grad hold duty was to take college classes. Let your kids know that if they do go on Grad hold have them check to see if they can wrangle college classes. It will put them just that much closer to to a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Technology (BSAST) degree in Nuclear Energy Engineering thru Thomas Edison State College which works with the Navy.

My sailor started Prototype in BS on Monday after moving there 5/10.  He is happy to be doing something interesting that doesn't require rote memorization.

My son is grad and hold for prototype in mid-September. He was duty driver for a couple of months, and loved the easy work. Since his class was cancelled on the day he was supposed to start, he was reassigned to general maintenance on the sub, and he says he likes it

Just heard from our Matt, he is do to graduate Power School the end of August, he said the Chief came in and told them that there will be no Grad and Go, that the whole class will be on a 2-5 month hold. Bit of a bummer as Matt wanted to get right into it.

He was happy that the Chief told him he would make him Lead Petty officer during the hold, he is also qualified for Duty Driver, and has a possibility of being assigned to Kings Bay during the hold. He is very happy with any of the positions.

Cant wait to see him....so proud!

Our son just graduated from EM A school last Friday. It was great seeing him receive his certificate. Thanks to everyone who recommended a place to stay. We ended up staying at Wingate. Would recommend this place to others. About 15 min from airport and base.
