Hello to all are Ohio Navy Parents!!!
I just wanted to mention again that we have an Ohio Navy Family group on Facebook. We try to get together once a month...doesn't always happen, but we do try!
Most of us are also members of another group on Facebook...
Open Homes for Traveling Military....if you are on Facebook, please come join this group. In the past couple of weeks we have banded together to help two stranded sailors. One was stuck in Ohio with a Navy Fed Credit Card that would not work at gas stations and one who was stuck in Wyoming. We made phone calls, sent emails and found ways to get both of these young men to their duty stations safe and on time. If you are willing to help out when a military member from any branch is traveling, consider joining this group and letting us know where you are located.
My son is with VQ-3 out at Tinker AFB in OK....enjoying his job and flying all over all the time.
From Springboro, OH, son just graduated from RTC. Proud!
My son just graduated High school on 26 May. He graduated from vocational school on 21 May. He received two awards. One was for $500 for going into the military to do what he was trained to do. The other was a scholarship from the family of the first Ohioan to die in Desert Storm. He was from Clermont County.
My son leaves on Oct. 2, 2012.
Hi there, anyone have a recruit that just left for RTC this week?

Hi all. My name is Cheryl and my son Carl leaves for bc on July 19, 2011. I'm so very proud of him. Through a special program with the towns community college and his high school he was fortunate enough to graduate high school and college at the same time with an associate's degree in engineering. He work very hard and got an award for the programs most outstanding student. He joined the DEP last year and will be heading to BC on July 19. He auto qualified for the Nuclear program which is what he has wanted for a very long time. The last few weeks with the graduations and all , have been so emotional for me. ( Happy Tears), but now that the time is getting so close for him to leave the emotions are mixed with sadness. I'm really going to miss him. Anyways, I am from Blue Rock, Ohio and would love to get to know some other Navy Parents.
SERE is over, thank goodness! He did fine. At their debriefing he found out he did better than he thought he did. I had to laugh, though...he made it through training without any injuries and then was rushing to get to debriefing on time and went over on his ankle. He said there were officers on his team, so he didn't get the worst of the treatment. Still, he said it was the worst thing he ever imagined and has been through, but that he's glad he had the opportunity.
I was pleased with something he said. I knew he had a friend who will be attending SERE in a month. I asked if he was going to talk to him about it. His response was that if you know all what to expect going into it then you really don't get the most out of it. He felt that learning how to react and act was a big part of it. Have to say I was proud of his observation.
Son is now out of Pensacola and on Tinker AFB in OK. The adventure continues....
