Good Morning,

I just found this site. My son is in boot camp now and PIR is on 3/30.

Welcome to PA Dads, David.

I don't have any experience with Tiger Cruises but a lot of other members do.  Try the chat room!

Good Morning,

Just found this site yesterday and must admit that it was a great find.  I was searching for info on Tiger Cruises and this helps a lot.  My youngest daughter is serving on the USS John C. Stennis CVN74 and I will be meeting her shortly for the cruise.  Any tips from old salts?

Hi Guys,

This was my first chance to get on this site this week, but I am very proud to announce that the Navy has graduated another recruit from PA. My youngest son had his PIR last Thursday. We drove out to see it. We noticed a few things changed since our other son went thru 2 years ago and they were all for the better. The addition of the visitor center is a great place to meet your new sailor. Our son did great at boot camp and came out as an E-3 (very proud of him) but we just kept reminding him to thank his brother (told him what to study). The trip was great and this time we had the day with our new sailor (the other was a Grad-n-Go). We enjoyed some great food and time with him. We loved everything about the drive except the 13 hr drive.

Now we are just waiting on an e-mail or call to hear whether our other sailor earned his Dolphins, should be this week. We're praying for it because it seems all encompassing for him to earn them.

Hope all is well with your sailors and your families! Take Care!

Randy,

That's a great surprise!  Have a great weekend with them!  Our son, David, is hoping to make it home for Christmas.

Hi Everyone,

We had a great surprise today, our son come home for a surprise visit. His sub the USS Alexandria is out on deployment and went to Annapolis for the weekend. Our son called his best friend who goes to college in Baltimore and went there to pick up our son and his shipmate and brought them to our house for the afternoon. Needless to say both my wife and I dropped everything to spend time with them. What a great time. His friend is from the state of Washington and we took them to an Amish market, very eye opening for him. We finished the afternoon driving them back to Baltimore. He will now be out for the next month or so!

I hope each of you get this kind of surprise sometime during their enlistment.
