My daughter had A school at NAS Pensacola, and C school at Corry Station in Pensacola @ 3 to 3.5 years ago. She is a crypto tech so that is different but I did get some feedback on the IT's. Back then she said they didn't have a command structure yet, so life was easy for them. For a while her roomate was an IT and she didn't have room inspections because no command, but the CT*'s had it so there was jealousy there. I'm sure it's changed since then, as the IT program grows. I have to say if you get a chance to visit, try to stay at the Navy Lodge. It's amazing, right on a private beach with white sand. I remember swimming with my sailor, and the Blue Angels flew over. If you get to visit the Naval air museum, plan plenty of time. We went for a couple of hours, that wasn't nearly enough time to take it all in.

Thanks Phil I will take your advise, My wife is already planning the trip and we haven't even been to her boot camp graduation yet. That will be March 6th. In Great Lakes. Any recommendations on what to do there ? We only have her for one night but were staying three days

For Great Lakes I would make sure you stay at the Navy Lodge, it is close to the base and you want to be as close to your Sailor as possible so you spend little time driving around. There is plenty to do around Great Lakes as far as food and entertainment for your time with your Sailor. One of the best bits of advice I have seen, and one that we followed is to make sure, through letters that you include your Sailor in the plans for what to do on their liberty. They have been told what to do for the majority of the time at great lakes and letting them chose what to do, where to eat is totally worth it. I also recommend getting in the PIR group on Facebook for your Sailors graduation if you already haven't. In addition to this page, the facebook page for my son's PIR group was GREAT help in planning our trip.
