Navy Dads

My daughter got into some trouble. She said she had to go to Captains Mast on Wednesday November 30, and I've heard nothing. I have no Idea of the outcome. I haven't seen my daughter since she started her freshman year of high school(other than the day she graduated boot). We all want to see her at Christmas, she has a plane ticket that we all pooled together to buy for her. Is there a way to find out what happened?

no...privacy issues dictate that she will have to communicate with you whatever the outcome of the mast was.

You don't understand..... I don't believe that she's avoiding us.....

I'm saying that privacy policies dictate that the Navy cannot communicate with you about her issues....

Robert -  Most commands will post in the Plan-Of-The-Day (POD) the outcome of any Captains Mast.  This serves warning to the other sailors not to do what the sailor did. They also speak about it at morning quarters.  So, all you need to do is ask some moms, who's sailors are going to the same school what she did.

Secondly, since this is usually all public knowledge, I would call the legal office at the base she is at and say "I'm sure, due to the privicy act, that you can't discuss specific sailors outcomes at Captain's Mast, however, since it is usually published in the POD, can you tell be the various outcomes of the Captains Mast held on Novemeber 30th, and what article of the UCMJ was the sailor charged with.  This will usually tell you what they did.

The reason you're probably not hearing from her is she's on restrictions.  She is being "micro-managed".  She is being hammered for whatever she did.  She could also be avoiding you.  No sailor wants to look bad in front of their family, it's human nature.  But my bets are because she's on restriction.

Thank you, I think I found a number....I'll try it on Monday.
