Battle Stations complete! Alyssa is a sailor. Next stop Pensacola.
My daughter will leave for boot camp in about 5 weeks. I know she will be at Pensacola somtime after Labor Day.
This may seem like a minor point, but tell your sailor (if that's possible) that unless they are from Florida, be careful of the Sun. I know it seems silly but every year some A school students get terrible sunburns and miss days of class. I'm from PA but live in Penacola now and I found out the hard way when I came CTT school. Just because you can stay out all day where you live doesn't mean you can do it here...it's has beautiful beaches (see pic).
LOL...Well he has always been in pretty good shape and always ate like a pig anyways...LOL Hopefully it will continue that way for him...I know it didn't stay that way for me....wish it would have though... Thanks for the advice though...I just want to make sure he has everything he needs before he gets there....
My son is going to Aviation Structural Mechanic A school after his 4/13 PIR. I am pretty sure it is in pensacola? Is there any advice I can give him at PIR to help him out? Just checking...lol
Gary - I'm very familiar with it. What do you need to know?
btw: you might want to join this group also:
My son starts school on April 2nd learning IT. Can anyone have any experience with this training. I understand the school is about 19 weeks long. Thanks.
Greetings!
My wife and I attended our daughters PIR & Graduation on 16 March (GRADZILLA as there were 14 Divisions and almost 1100 Sailors).
She is now at Pensacola for A school so I will now move my haunting from the Boot Camp Forum to this one.
She is ABH and on hold for school. Initially they told her (in BC) that the hold would be about 2 weeks but upon arrival she met up with some Sailors who have been on hold for several weeks. I told her to just get comfortable and make the best of it. Her school will start when the Navy is ready for it to start. In the Navy, patience will either be learned or it will be forced on you.
Thank you for the responeses. We've also asked a friend of ours who is also a chief, and he had the same response.
Christian, I asked my son this question. He said probably nothing to flashy or crazy would be fine. But it is up to the individual school and staff.
Steve
